The Inaugural ceremony for the Save a life project commenced with watering of plant
On 25th of April 2017, AmityUniversity Kolkata took the opportunity to organise a blood donation camp incollaboration with Lion's Blood Bank,and Stem Cell Donor Registration in collaboration with Datri - a non- profit organisation. These two noble projectstogether was named as “Project - Save ALife”.
The programme started with the inaugural ceremony inthe auditorium, in the presence of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr).Dhrubajyoti Chattopadhyay and respected Senior Director Dr. Ankita ChakravartyBhattacharya along with respected Assistant Vice President Mr. Vipin Sharma andthe respected HoIs with other esteemed dignitaries from Lions Club and Datri,who inaugurated the occasion by watering a plant. The dignitaries were felicitatedby our senior management with bouquet of flowers. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor was requestedto deliver the welcome address. This was followed by a wonderful speech byLions Club member Lion Sangeeta Jatia (Past International Director), who explainedthe mutual benefit of blood donation between the blood donor and the needyrecipient. Further, the entire process of the lesser known Stem Cells Donationwas broken down to simpler terms by Ms. Ananya Ghosh, Drive Coordinator, DatriBlood Stem Cell Donors Registry.
“Save a life Project” turned out to be a great success with hugenumbers of students and employees coming forward the whole day. At the end, 315people donated their blood, and more than 300 registrations were done for StemCell Donors Registry.
The organising committeecomprised of Ms. Pritha Saha Academic Coordinator, AUK, Ms. Sanchita Dhali,Executive - Media & Public Relations, AUK , Ms. Neha Singh- Executive-Administration, AUK and seven studentsfrom various department – Swagata Dey, Abhishek Bose, Tushar Sharma, MayankGupta, Vikas Prasad, Pallavi Chhajer, Anwesha Bishnu, volunteered the event.
