TEACHING

The amphitheatre-style classrooms provide the most conducive atmosphere for dynamic and focused discussions between the students and the faculty. Interactive learning is augmented by a variety of teaching methods combining the traditional lecture with seminar teaching, team-based group projects, laboratory practicals and advanced audio-visual aids. The objective of this is to develop the analytical, presentation and communication skills of the students.

All these facilities are coupled with a strong faculty base comprising senior and renowned academicians and leading professionals.

SEMESTER

The academic year is divided into two semesters for all courses.
ASSESSMENT

The units in each course are assessed individually, with methods of assessment varying according to the nature of the subject being taught. It consists of a combination of course work (seminars, projects, lab work, orals and practicals), continuous assessment and examination.

MENTORING

At AIB, a faculty member is assigned to a group of students as a mentor to address each student’s problems on an individual basis and to ensure that they develop their best possible potential through counseling and guidance.

FOREIGN LANGUAGES

Amity provides an international perspective to the students through the various language programmes. The foreign language course has been integrated into the curriculum. The students have choice to select one of the foreign languages from French, German, Spanish, Japanese and Chinese.
PLACEMENT

The vast corporate network built up by the Amity Corporate Resource Centre actively helps the students in placement and career counselling. The M.Sc. Biotechnology, M.Sc. Bioinformatics and MBA - Biotechnology course opens up avenues for its students for self-employment as well as careers in agribusiness, health care, pharmaceuticals and related industries.

ADMISSION TO THE VARIOUS COURSES

Selection process is based upon a written test followed by a group discussion and interview. Analytical capabilities, communication skills and a keen desire to excel receive weightage in admission. The interviews and group discussions are conducted by panelists who have expertise in their field.
ORIENTATION PROGRAMMES

For every student who joins the Amity family, the orientation programme through its innovative techniques, helps the students to know themselves and their batch mates. The faculty members and the students get an informal opportunity to watch each others’ expectations through feedbacks and brain-storming sessions.

IN-HOUSE PROJECT TRAINING

AIB has in-house training programme for the students for which faculties with research background provides hands on training to the students. Students are formally registered with the supervisor and monitored from time to time. Good findings are encouraged for publications. Project reports are prepared under constant supervision of their guides. Supervisor certifies the work and teaches students the process of technical writings as well as designing experiments. A proper monitoring system is also developed for the students who undergo training outside the Institute.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

AIB undergraduate Youth Council (AUYC) formed in the year 2006 is a collective initiative of undergraduate students of Amity Institute of Biotechnology, NOIDA towards promoting co-curricular and extra-curricular activities within the campus and all across the country. It works under five wings namely technical, literary, social, cultural and sports.
