| We
are all aware that there is no place for mediocrity
in today's world. We are also aware that today's
individuals are increasingly feeling more and
more overwhelmed by the complexities of the
problems they face not so much because the nature
and intensity of the problems have changed drastically
but because they are not equipped with the skills
and abilities to deal with them.
No society can hope to flourish if it's youth
are saddled with problems, not of their own
making and which they can not solve. The young
generation is under a great deal of pressure.
More and more youngsters are having problems
in dealing with their family and friends, their
perception of the world, and their attitudes
towards the self.
These problems are characterized by feelings
of anxiety or tension, dis-satisfaction with
their own behaviour, anger at others and self,
excessive worries about minor problems, a sense
of failure to meet the desired goals in life
and an inability to function in the wider world.
The Amity Institute of Behavioural and Allied
Sciences has taken upon itself the responsibility
to create an awareness among the members of
educational corporate and government institutions
about the importance of understanding, developing
and enriching the self as a core competency,
to help them in resolution of the internal and
external conflicts and in prevention of the
existing social values. The Institute has also
shouldered the responsibility of training counsellors
to handle emotional problems in person of all
ages by running the 18 month course of P.G.
Diploma in Counselling Psychology.
We believe in giving each individual the time
to think, to dream, to observe, to imagine and
to grow. Let us prepare ourselves to face the
bewildering competencies of the 21st century.
We owe it to ourselves.
