Admission to first year of MBBS in the various other Medical Colleges in the country are made through All Indian Medical Entrance Examinations, also by many other individual bodies of various top Medical colleges or by appearing in the various State level Medical Entrance Examinations such as CBSE - AIPMT, UP-CPMT, HPMT (Haryana-PMT), AIIMS etc. Admission to various medical colleges are solely based on the AIPMT or based on the state Ranks achieved e.g. DPMT for Delhi.

These examinations, evaluate the student on the basic knowledge of subjects & the ability to apply the same for expediency. It requires a planned, systematic & conscious preparation.

The AIPMT entrance test is being conducted for the 15% merit positions in the Medical/Dental Colleges of India as specified in the directive of the court and will be governed by the rules and regulations specified for the same by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India from time to time. There are also State Governments/Universities/Institutions voluntarily participating in the All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Test 2014 for using its merit list for admission in the Medical Colleges/Dental Colleges against seats under their control.

New Examination Pattern of CBSE - AIPMT (2014)

The Entrance Test shall consist of one paper containing 180 objective type questions (four options with single correct answer) from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology) to be answered on the specially designed machine-gradable sheet using Ball Point Pen only. The duration of paper would be 03 hours. Question Papers for the test shall be based on a common syllabus notified by the Medical council of India.
