The ultimate goal of Amity Institute of Physiotherapy is to prepare Physiotherapists, who are good clinical analyzers, excellent team workers, life long learners and are able to practice as excellent therapists in a variety of health care delivery systems such as primary, secondary and tertiary systems. In order to meet its obligation in teaching, research, scholarly activities, practice of service, the Amity Institute of Physiotherapy, strives to maintain high quality faculty who are excellent teachers and expert practitioners, whose contributions are remarkable in the field of physiotherapy.
The Amity Institute of Physiotherapy imparts undergraduate (BPT) as well postgraduate (MPT) programs in physiotherapy.
BPT is a full time training program in physiotherapy for four years followed by six months’ internship (4½ years) leading to Bachelor of Physiotherapy Degree (BPT). The Bachelor of Physiotherapy course provides systematic Physiotherapy education in theory as well as practical with an emphasis on clear concepts and basics. This helps the students in critical analysis, decision-making leading to detailed therapeutic treatment. This enables the students to emerge as thorough responsible professionals as well as create a necessary knowledge base for advanced education in specialized clinical practice.
Post graduation (MPT) is offered in five specializations including Orthopaedics, Neurology, Cardiopulmonary, Sports and Paediatrics. It is a two year course which includes a dissertation in the area of choice. The Master of Physiotherapy course provides specialized and advances knowledge in the area of specialization. This helps to develop competence in the area of study leading to greater aptitude for specialized clinical practice and research in that area.
The graduation curriculum in physiotherapy will provide the basis for entry into professional physiotherapy practice. The graduates are prepared with the necessary and thorough base to practice in a variety of setting including government and private hospitals, old age homes, gymnasiums, clinics, fitness centres, industrial area, and areas of sports. They also have the opportunity to start their own private clinics.
The programs also emphasizes on leadership roles as well as team work effort to provide best treatment and care for the individual.
Physiotherapy is one of the popular course in modern medicine world over and through the academic era is spread over decades. Physiotherapy is health caring profession, which views human movements as central to the health and well being of individuals. The core skills used by Physiotherapy include manual therapy, therapeutics exercise and the application of electro therapeutic modalities.
Definition: Physiotherapy means modern physiotherapeutic system of medicine and it includes: Examination, treatment, advice and instruction to any person preparatory to or for the purpose of or in connection with movement dysfunction, bodily malfunction, physical disorder/disability, healing and pain from injury, diseases, physical and mental conditions using physical agent, activities and devices including exercises, mobilization manipulation and electrotherapy for diagnosis, prevention and treatment.
