The Swiss Exchange Programme' 13


The Swiss Exchange Programme saw nine students of Amity International School, escorted by Mrs. Manisha Khanna, Senior coordinator of AIS-46 visit the picture postcard perfect Kantonsschule Wettingen in Switzerland, from June 22, 2013 to July 1, 2013.Visiting Switzerland was simply a dream come true for the entire team. The greenery and breath-taking natural beauty of the country along with its historic site seeing awed the team.

The agenda planned for the tour was perfect as not only could the students visit Paul Scherrer Institute and Ion beam Physics department of ETH, they were also able to perform some experiments and meet the scientists working there. The team visited Bern, Basel and the city of Lucerne which was a fun filled excursion. The team also visited the historic town of Basel which was truly a feast for the eyes.

The students got the opportunity to give a well appreciated cultural performance in the school cafeteria which drew great applause from the spectators. It was wonderful to see the Swiss students joining them to perform in the spirit of camaraderie. The efforts made by the host families in taking care of our students, is really appreciated.

The team would like to give special thanks to the Principal Mrs. Arti Chopra who was always in touch to provide assistance and support, Mrs Jyoti Arora Head, Amity Educational Resource Centre, for guidance and support and enhancing the confidence of the team. The team's sincere gratitude is extended to the Honorable Chairperson Mam, Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan for the opportunity to experience the heaven on earth first hand.
  
EuroFest' 13

The Amity International School, Sector 46, participated in the Odyssey of Mind, often called the ODM, a creative problem-solving competition involving students from kindergarten till college. It requires the team members to work together at length to solve a predefined problem and present their solution at a competition. They also need to generate spontaneous solutions to a problem they have not seen before. All brainstorming, building, painting, sewing, and fixing are to be done by the team. The competition is held at two levels regional and International.

Under the able guidance of our respected and dynamic Principal Mrs. Arti Chopra, the school team, consisting of Jinesh Bothra, Yuvraj Jain, Rishabh Garg, Sonali Chauhan, Vedaansh Nagpal, Arsh Passey and Keshav Maheshwari, guided by their coach, Mrs. Seema Kaushik, participated in the Eurofest 2013, held in Berlin, Germany. The team participated in mixed team problem solving, where the problem was handed over to the participants in Germany, and required solving in three days. The partner teams hailed from Slovakia and Russia.

The students proved their mettle, securing the second position in both events to bring home the trophy and certificates. The event was notable not only for the prizes won but also for the international exposure it provided to young minds. The honorable Chairperson Ma?am, Dr. Mrs. Amita Chauhan was delighted at the achievement of her students, and blessed the participants.
