Social St. Quiz – Class V

'Who am I?’ quiz on Indian personalities was held in the month of August. Shortlisting of the students was done in the class and the quiz was conducted with a PowerPoint presentation.

Watering the Plants

Students of class II were taken out in the garden to water the plants as a part of saving the environment.

Quiz

  • Intersection quiz on “Independence Day” was held on 21.9.07. All section of class II participated and II – C won.
  • Quiz was held in all the sections of class III to select children for the intersection “Freedom Fighter” quiz.
  • To increase the awareness among children about Indian Scientists a quiz was organized in the class. All students participated and from them 5 best children were selected for the inter section quiz.

Doha Competition

Doha competition was held on 24.8. 07. Ten children from each house participated. They learnt about values in dohas.

“Is River Yamuna a dustbin?” – Skit by class III

Children participated enthusiastically in this activity to explain that how we are making River Yamuna polluted and what steps should be taken to save it from being polluted.


Independence Day Celebration

Independence Day was celebrated in the school on 13th August. Chairperson Ma’am hosted the flag which was followed by a programme of yoga and dance.

Checkmate

An Inter school chess competition was organized at Amity International School, Pushp Vihar under the guiding principles of our ever esteemed Founder President Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan Sir and venerable Chairperson Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan Ma’am who have always upheld the age-old tradition of our country. Chess being one such game has always been encouraged at Amity, Pushp Vihar. There was active participation from schools all over Delhi under the two specified categories i.e. under – 9 and under – 14 age groups.

In the under-9 category was Modern School, Vasant Vihar (A) was the winner and in the under-14 category Raghuveer Sigh Junior Modern School was the winner. The Amity, Pushp Vihar and Sanskriti A were the runners up in both these categories respectively. The Vice Principal, Mrs. Ameeta Mohan ma’am commended the winners wholeheartedly.

Intersection Quiz on India

An Inter section quiz of class I was held on 04.09.07 based on India. 3 Children from each section were selected. I B won the quiz. It was a tough competition as all of them were well aware about their country.

Ms. Uma Sharma – Kathak Dance

Amity believes that academic foundation can get stronger if it is rooted firmly in traditional grounds & is culturally nurtured. Thus upholding the motto of modernity blends with tradition, Amity International School was honoured to host a scintillating kathak recital by the veteran dancer Ms. Uma Sharma under the aegis of Spic Macay, on 2nd November 2007. The students watched spell bound electrifying performance her interpretative & expressional body language transformed the poetic images into rich visual images of great pictorial charm. She enlightened the audience on history of Kathak and the significance form. Her creative fusion of “Abhinaya” and rhythmic footwork had a mesmerizing effect on the young students who generated a renewed interest in our traditional dance form.

Intersection Activity - Hambola

First round was done in the class by giving 10 questions. 2 students were selected from each section. Final round was done with 4 groups and 8 students. 15 questions were asked and the group which completed the full house stood first. Class V A won.


FOOD BONANZA – CLASS I

The precept of ‘Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam’ spreads the message of universal brotherhood. We should all help each other at all times. This principle is epitomized by our Chairperson Dr. Mrs. Amita Chauhan ma’am in her thoughts and deeds and she is the spirit behind the creation of Amitasha a school for the under privileged girl child.

Following her golden footsteps class I of Amity International School, Pushp Vihar in order to help the Amitasha girls contributed through their 3 day ‘Amity Sharing Caring’ project. By this project of 3 days the children not only learnt to care & share but they also gained the pleasure of cooperative communal service.

KGs had there folk dance competition in the month of November’2007. Each section selected folk dance of a particular state and then they performed the same on the stage in colorful and vibrant dresses. It was a 100% participation event

Intersection Activities - MATHS QUIZ

First round was done as multiple choice questions (20 questions) 2 students were selected from each class. Final round was a power point presentation of 10 questions. There was a tie between V A and V C in the tie breaker V A won.


In-house sports day

An in-house sports day was held in the school grounds on the 15th of December 2007. The preliminaries were held a week earlier and the selected students were picked up in accordance to their caliber and fighting spirit. The entire school assembled in the ground and sat house wise holding the banners to cheer their own houses. The programme began with a March Past where the contingent from each House saluted the Chief Guest & our Vice Principal Mrs. Ameeta Mohan. Students led them on horsebacks carrying the school flag. The lighting of lamp was done by a torch which was carried by Shantanu Dey of class VIII A. An oath to upkeep the spirit of sportsmanship was taken by Dikshat Pruthi of class VI C on behalf of all the students. The sports meet was then declared open. The events were not only age appropriate but interesting and full of verve. They required the participants to use up all their zest & energy and become a winner. It begin with the races of Nursery and KG and went on to class VII and VIII races interspersed with Karate and Aerobics display. The lights of the day were inspiring ‘Chak De’ dance by the students which was followed by a tug of War amongst the teachers. It was mandatory for all the teachers to participate and students too enjoyed being spectators to the feast of their teachers. The karamcharis too were not left behind. They too participated in the races held especially for them and added to the zest. On the whole it was a great day of enthusiasm, spirit, verve.

Salad & Sandwich Making

An Inter-house salad & sandwich making competition was held in the month of December. The four houses were awarded marks on table decoration, salad and the presentation.

Republic Day Celebration

‘Republic Day’ was celebrated in the school with a great spirit. The tricolor was hosted by the Vice Principal ma’am. The National Anthem was sung. The students performed a skit on the framing of the constitution followed by a song and dance sequence.
