FEBRUARY’ 2009

On 12th February 2009, we the children of class 5th went to the Blind Relief Association. At the entrance was a board on which photos of the Blind people were put up. They were using tools, they were studying and working on computers. First we went to the recording room where a lady was reading a book and it was being recorded.  The guide told us that the recorded tapes were given to two or three blinds and they studied their course by listening those tapes. Next we went upstairs to a massage room. We saw two blind students people massaging a person. Though they were blind, they did it so perfectly. We went downstairs and saw the computer lab. The computer teacher told us that those computers looked ordinary but the only difference was that anything they typed, the computer spoke it whit was indeed an eye opener. Then we went to the workshop where blind people were making beautiful candles. Some were taking out the molten wax, some were moulding the wax, and some were making the thread and some where giving the final-touch to it. There was a saying written by Helen Keller, “sometimes a door of happiness closes and another opens. But we often see the close door for a long time that we don’t realize that another door has opened.” Then we saw some blind children making knives and bases of candles. After this we all boarded the bus and in this way this wonderful journey ended.

On 9th February 2009, class IV, students went to special places in Delhi, the throbbing heart of India. They went to ‘Shanti van’, the Samadhi of Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru the first Prime Minister of India. They also saw Gneissic Quartz which was 1500 milling years old.  Then they saw ‘Shakti sthal’  - the Samadhi of Indira Gandhi, the first women Prime Minister of India. Samadhi of Mahatama Gandhi ‘Rajghat’ was also visited by the children.  There is a ‘Jyoti’ burning on his Samadhi. They were served snacks on the way. Then it was time for lunch. They were taken to Indraprastha Park where the children were given nutritious & delicious lunch.  After having lunch they were taken to the ‘Hymayun’s tomb’.  The tomb stands on the platform of 12000m and is as high as 47m. The west gate is the main entrance of 16m height. Humayun Tomb is on the world heritage list for protection of the world cultural & natural heritage. Sin sided stars used as ornamental cosmic symbols adorn the structure. The children had a wonderful day and were back sharp at 3:30pm.

Day Picnic – Zoo & Dolls Museum – KG

A bright & pleasant morning tempted us to take our kindergartners for a day out to National Zoological Park, Shanker’s Dolls Museum & finally to Indraprastha Park. The little ones had and enchanting time in the Zoo.

Migrant birds in hordes & in varied hues were busy chatting with each other before their return journey to their home lands thousand of miles away.  Elephants were busy with breakfast. The little ones were really thrilled to see the family of Giraffes & the Zebras.

In aviary the little ones were delighted to watch the colourful parakeets, white peacock & the ring necked pheasant & so on. The leopards, white tigers & lions were enjoying their morning siesta. The Hippo was in its muddy pool. The long necked Emu was suspiciously looking at the visitors. The little ones had their breakfast in the magnificent backdrop of Purana Quila & then proceeded towards Shankar’s Dolls Museum. The array of dolls in their colourful costumes from world over aroused the inquisitiveness in the tiny tots.

Our final destination was Indraprastha Park. The well kept green lawns & flower beds opened the vistas of their imagination. We returned to school after a sumptuous delicious lunch and everlasting memories.
