Activities- Environment Week at Amity

Amity Saket as a lead school is an active participant in all programmes started by government of NCT Delhi. The school is now a part of the globe international programme. It is a green school member for self auditing in various environment related issues. The programme is organized by the centre for Environment and Science and supported by ministry of forest and environment. The school celebrated environment week in July with the number of activities to create awareness and understanding

NEW ACTIVITIES INTRODUCED- Robotics and Aeromodelling

Two new activities have been opened to the students this session. Both activities have been taken up by students with great enthusiasm. The classes are held on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays and students are gaining hands on experience working with the science of both robotics and aeromodelling

Guest Lecture Series

In the ongoing awareness programme, special invitees in our school assemblies give invigorating and informative talks to students. As part of the series, the school arranged interactive sessions with Lt Gen BK Bopanna for classes VIII. IX and XI; by Mr Sanjay Srivastava for class XI; Dr TV Venkateswara from Vigyan Prasar spoke to the students of VI to IX about the importance of millipedes in our diversity, Mr Apoorv Kalia discussed the science of robotics while Mr. Kalsi spoke to the school about aeromodelling. Prof Raj singh was invited to address the students and discuss ways to enhance communication skills in children.

Career Counselling

Aptitude, interest and personality testing was done for class X. Dr Kumkum Tandon, an eminent careerist conducted workshops for students and parents of class X.

JOSH

The students of class XI attended a police-student interactive programme ‘JOSH’ on socially relevant issues and have made an impactful documentary on women at risk

Interact Club

Mallika Bhardwaj has been appointed as the Zonal Interact Representative, a post earlier held by Abhay Chauhan from our school itself. It is a prestigious appointment that gives the student a platform to instill and display leadership qualities.

Grooming Classes

Grooming classes are organized for students of class IX keeping in mind their over all personality development and confidence building.

A Workshop on Health and Hygiene was conducted by the counsellor for the class of girl V to discuss “growing up issues and relevant information required at this age”.

Festivals and Celebrations

Both national and religious festivals are celebrated at Amity with great enthusiasm. Independence day celebration marked the culmination of a month long string of activities to inspire a feeling of patriotism and love for the motherland among the students. These activities formed a part of “unmesh” and comprised of poetry writing, discussions on unsung heroes, flag making etc. Janamashtmi was celebrated with great enthusiasm with the tiny tots dressing up as Radha, Krishna and enacting episodes from Lord Krishna’s life.

Voices

Chairperson’s birthday, this year was an ecstatic event where the school congregated to wish their beloved “Amita Ma’am”. A weeklong celebration with a spectrum of activities culminated in a colorful programme entitled ‘Voices- an echo of opinions’, a kaleidoscope of talent showcased Amitians displaying oratorical skills both in English and Hindi.

Project Citizen India

In the endeavor to foster the qualities of responsible citizenship among its students, Amity Saket participates in Project Citizen each year. The students of Class IX work on various citizenship issues and find methods and means of solving these issues with active participation from their side. The issues looked into this year were-

• Status of the Physically Challenged
• Women at risk
• Nutrition among school children
• Traffic problems near the school

Teacher Training

Teachers are forever learners. To keep the teachers updated with the latest in their field workshops and training programmes are organized through the year. Some of these are listed below-

• Self esteem and emotional intelligence- Bina Nangia
• Yoga And Meditation- Mohan Shastry.
• Training programme for Physics teachers
• Effective teaching of Maths in the Math Lab.
• Life Skills workshop- Pravah.
• Montessori training workshop
• Workshops for all subjects- NCERT.

Hawans

In keeping with the Amity tradition of blending modernity with tradition, Hawans are held for all classes. These are followed by a sermon and discussion with the panditji. A worksheet is given to reinforce the points discussed.

Primary Section

A host of activities are held for the little ones. These include theme parties like watermelon party, beach part etc. Rakshabandhan, Janamashtmi and all other festivals are celebrated.
Role-plays form an instrumental part of learning.
Thematic approach has been adopted. Simple science experiments and Tell me Why activities are conducted.
