The students of class IV A had prepared and conducted the assembly on Mother’s Day and Culture of Andaman and Nicobar. The compering was done by Yash Pandey and Avishi Gupta.
TheNational and International news was presented by Priyal and the Sports news was presented by Sagnik Sarkar.This was followed by the thought for the day which was read by Yash Jain . Anupriya and Atishay Jain gave the information on Mother’s Day, followed by Chairperson Ma’am’s birthday information by Minal Surana and Kaushal Sharma. Ayushi presented Amity Campus News. Importance of Mother in our life was shown through a skit followed by a dance on the song
“Mother! Mother! Dear Mother!”
Rishabh and Subhransh shared information on Andaman and Nicobar’s culture : their cuisine, religion, dresses, etc. The children were then briefed about Mother’s Day by H.M. Mrs. Roop Kamal Singh. She also appreciated the effort put in by the students and the class teacher.
The assembly ended with the school song and National Anthem.
In the Inter-Class Slogan Writing Competition, children made colourful bookmarks with appropriate and thought provoking slogans which acted as a wake-up call and reinforced the need to take some action to save our precious Earth. The bookmarks were beautifully decorated and children displayed their creativity and imagination. The competition gave the children a platform to showcase their talent and made them realize the importance of our Mother Earth.

Inter class English poem writing competition was held on 23-04-2012 for classes VI to X. The aim of the competition was to develop creative instincts in students. For classes VI and VII, topic was – ‘Mother Earth-The sustainer of life’ and for classes VIII to X, topic was-‘ My Mother-My friend, philosopher and guide’. Students had to follow a certain style of poem writing. They could choose among Acrostic, Diamante, Rhyming or a Ballad. Topics were given five days in advance so that students get enough time to research on the style and content of the poem.
Participants were judged on different measures ,like the content of the poem, style of the poem, whether relevant to the topic and on the overall impression. Through this competition, students got a chance to display their innate talent as a poet. Our budding poets, got the stage to prove their mettle. School Principal, Ms. V. Balachandran encouraged the students and Co-ordinator, Ms. Veena Mishra guided the participants. Students enjoyed the competition.

Topic : Save Energy
Inter House Poster Making Competition was held on 20th April 2012for classes I to V. Complete class participated in this competition. The aim of this competition was to develop creativity instinct and awareness for saving Earth and Energy amongst students. For classes I and II ,topic was ‘Save Earth’ and for III to V ,topic was ‘Save Energy’. Topics were given two weeks in advance so that students get enough time to practice.
Participants were judged on different measures like, relevance to theme, neatness and presentation, finishing in given time and message. Two house winners were selected from each class. Teacher in charge for this competition were Mrs. Jyoti Khanna and Ms. Sudipta Adhya. School Principal , Mrs V, Balachandran encouraged the students and Head Mistress, Mrs Roop Kamal Singh guided the Participants. Students enjoyed the competition and gave their best.

All students from classes I to V participated in the competition. They were prepared under the able guidance of their English teachers and were judged on the basis of presentation, word formation and neatness. All the students participated enthusiastically .They put their best foot forward and wrote in a very neat handwriting .It was a successful event. Two students from each section were adjudged winners. Topic : Save Earth
The assembly began with the discussion of ‘earth hour’. Thought of the day was, “ Save Earth as we have no-where else to go.” National and International news was presented which made us aware about what is happening around us. Megha recited a beautiful poem on how to turn our world into a paradise! Next came the rally of the children with placards exhibiting valuable tips on how we can contribute to save our environment. Children showed their creative and confident side while presenting the Nukkad Natak. It was a thought provoking play presented in a humorous way. Information regarding the climate, occupation, festivals etc of Andaman & Nicobar Island was presented by the children. Headmistress Mrs. Roop Kamal Singh blessed the children and appreciated their efforts. She also encouraged the children to save the environment.

Handwriting is the mirror to the personality of a person.
A neat and beautiful always seeks the attention of others. To develop awareness and love for good handwriting and also to test the handwriting of the students an Interclass English Handwriting Competition was conducted on 3.4.2012 for classes VI to X. All the students participated enthusiastically in the event.
The entries were judged on the basis of letter formation, word formation, neatness and overall impression. The best two entries from each class were given the certificates.

Inter Class Hindi Competition has held on 2-4-2012 ie. Monday in the respective classes. All the students of class VI to X participated in it. In the beginning of competition, students were given matter for sulekh. All of them followed the rules and regulations that were instructed before the competition.

Amity International School Vasundhara Sec-1 conducted Orientation Programme on 23rd March, 2012 for the parents of newly admitted students of classes KG to X who are about to be a part of the Amity family. The programme commenced with the lighting of lamp followed by the peaceful rendition of shlokas. Students welcomed the parents with their melodious welcome song- ‘we welcome you all’. Shiv Vandana –a dance performance by students mesmerized the audience. School Principal Ms. V. Balachandran welcomed the parents and she apprised them on the infrastructure and various activities taking place in the school. She spoke about Founder President Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan and worthy chairperson of Amity Schools Dr. Mrs. Amita Chauhan, who is a role model for all to emulate. Senior students read out the annual report. It was a grand showcase by students of Amity.
An assembly was conducted by the students of class 8 A on Tuesday, the 14th February 2012 to express their gratitude towards all those who helped them in all respects. The assembly started with an invocation to almighty God. The students offered cards to the Principal, Head Mistress, the Co-ordinator, and all staff members. The assembly was ended with applause and appreciation by the Principal Mrs. V.Balachandran.


An Intra –Class Cookery Competition was held on 14th February, 2012 for Classes VI-VIII in their respective classrooms. The budding chefs were given different items to prepare. Class VI prepared Fruit/Vegetable Salads, Class VII made Snacks/Sweets while Class VIII made Sandwiches. All the children participated enthusiastically and made colourful, mouthwatering dishes. The best three from each class were declared winners.
The assembly had an auspicious start with the prayer ‘Teri yeh Zameen’ sung by the school choir. National and sports news was read out by a student of class II-C, which was followed by the thought of the Day. The assembly continued with the narration of the events preceding the actual incident of the Jallianwallah Bagh. Few students of both the classes presented a mesmerising skit, depicting the arrest of the two political leaders and the tragic Jallianwallah Bagh Incident. The skit was concluded by the rendition of the famous song –“eei mere watan ke logon” by a student of class II-C.
To showcase the vibrancy and rich culture of Punjab, students of class II-D presented a fashion show on Dresses of Punjab with a foot tapping music.
Towards the end, Headmistress, Mrs. Roop Kamal Singh paid homage to our great leaders by lighting the lamp and blessed us all.
The proud winners of various competitions were felicitated by Headmistress followed by the school song and the National Anthem.
An inter house quiz competition was organized by Amity International Vasundhara sector 1 on 7th feb. 2012. There were five participants from each house. There were four rounds namely;

The children of Nursery and KG celebrated the golden season – Spring, with ‘Basant Panchami Party’ as it is the time when nature is at its best. The party was organized to make them aware of this season of renewal or re - growth and to share some fun filled moments with them. Children had a gala time during the party. They wished “Happy Basant” to all, recited poems on spring and danced. They enjoyed the delicious food ( poori , aloo ki sabzi and halwa) which was based on the theme- Basant and happily carried the gifts ( kitchen set and water game ) home.

To help the students realize their hidden talents and to polish them they had enrolled in various clubs. After enhancing their skills and knowledge for a year, these children got a chance to display it through a presentation on 18th and 25th January.
The Hindi Theater Club displayed their acting prowess through a Nukkad Natak on corruption. While young geniuses did some quick calculations to display their mastery over numbers in a Quiz conducted by the Math Club, a face –off between a gun and a dove on World Peace by the Debate Club displayed their oratory and public speaking skills. The Quiz Club tested our knowledge and awareness of current issues through a Quiz.
The second day of the presentation saw members of the Aerobics Club displaying their agility, fitness and rhythm. The Ecology Club reinforced the need to be conscious and environment friendly by making everybody take a pledge to save paper and electricity. The Science Club conducted some practical experiments related to our every day life like lateral inversion of image by the rearview mirror in cars, a candle see saw etc. They were quite interesting and made us look at things around us in a new light. The importance of food was reinstated through a touching play by the Social Service Club which stressed on the need to stop food wastage and imbibed values like empathy and compassion.
The fabulous presentation by all the clubs revealed their new found skill and knowledge and showed how much they had enjoyed these activities.

Theme-World Peace Day

Peace is not merely the absence of war and hatred but also the presence of cooperation, compassion and worldwide justice.
Class VIII conducted a special assembly on the theme World Peace Day. The whole assembly was based on the above mentioned view point.
The assembly started with the prayers to take God’s blessings. A special prayer ‘LET THERE BE PEACE’ was sung by the class. The video with the lyrics of the prayer was played along.
After the prayer Gazal Sancheti and Charu Singh apprised the assembly about the World Peace Day and its significance.Then Anjali Sing and Aastha Gandhi read out the current news and weather reports.It was well presented as they used PPTs to create interest and clarity.
To bring out the importance of peaceful protests a talk between DOVE AND A GUN was presented by Shubhank Tyagi and Nidhi Rajesh.Then a skit QUEST FOR PEACE was presented by all the students of the class.The theme for the play was ‘There are three things to learn to bring peace in this world: simplicity, patience, compassion’.
Then the whole assembly and the class sung ‘HEAL THE WORLD-MICHAEL JACKSON’. Simultaneously a PPT showing The Causes, Effects and Solution of conflicts to bring world peace was presented.
The assembly concluded with the school song and the blessings by the Principal Mrs. V.Balachandran ma’am.

A Fancy dress competition was planned for Nursery to class I, in which the theme for Nursery was Seasonal Magic, the theme for KG was Musical Expressions, for class I was Colours and for class II was Music.
The competition was graced by the Principal Mrs. V. Balachandran and Head Mistress Mrs. Roopkamal Singh.
Nursery children were dressed in colourful costumes depicting different seasons.
KG children were dressed as famous personalities of Music like Lata Mangeshkar, musical instruments like Guitar, Harmonium etc. Some of them were also dressed as Rockstars of the modern age.
Class I children depicted difficult colours in their costumes and spoke about it.
Nursery and KG students of Amity International School Vasundhara Sec – 1 celebrated the Chilly Winter Party on Friday the 20th of January 2012.
The party was graced by the Principal Mrs. V. Balachandran and Head Mistress Mrs. Roopkamal Singh.
Children gathered in the amphi theatre for the party and each of them rocked the atmosphere.
The winter chill and bonfire geared them to hit the dance floor, our beautiful angels were worth watching.
The party winded up with a treat of Idli, Chutney and Gulab Jamun for the tiny tots.

We had organized an Inter House Kho-Kho Competition for Classes III to V .Event was organized in the ground. 12 best students were selected from each house. Mandakini House won the match and Second Position went to Bhagirathi House . Students enjoyed a lot.

Intra Class Hindi Creative Writing Competition was held on 16th January, 2012 for class I (All Sections) in Amity International School, Vasundhara Sector 1.Topic for Creative Writing was
( saoba ).
Three children from each section were selected in the competition.The children presented their ideas in very creative manner. They were expressive about their opinion and gave beautiful examples from their daily lives.The Competition was judged by Ms .Neera Anand.
H.M. Ma’am also appreciated the effort put in by the students.

Amity International School, Vasundhara, Sector-1, hosted their first Mathematics project display “Mathamity – 2011” on 5th & 6th August, 2011 for classes Nursery to IX. It was the celebration of mathematical temperament and knowledge. It provided a platform for the Amitians to come out with research based innovative projects. The event witnessed an overwhelming participation by all Amitians. Eye catching 3D models were made on – Math in architecture of Qutub Minar, Lotus Temple and Burj Kalifa. Students spoke confidently on Application of Math in designing and finding height using sextant. Fibonacci sequence was explained in detail. PPT was presented on Math in architecture of group housing.The pioneering project is an initiative of Chairperson of Amity Group of Schools, Dr. Amita Chauhan and under her patronage students are given constant encouragement to revamp and reinvent their skills. The event was graced by teachers from various schools as judges. The school Principal Mrs. V.Balachandran apprised the students about the importance of Math around us. She appreciated the efforts of the Math teachers and the participating students.

Students brought varied coloured chart papers. Their excitement could be seen by the various coloured items they had brought. They decorated their book cover enthusiastically.Topics for 3rd to 5th were Friends, Games, My Hobby and the topics for 6th to 9th were Green Delhi, Clean Delhi and Time. The best three from each class was judged by the judges.
As India celebrates its 65th year of Independence, it is time to celebrate and rejoice. AISV1 organized flag making competition for classes III to IX to celebrate Independence Day. Pidilites Industries Ltd. provided cloth and Stick to the students. The students used Fevicryl colours and made beautiful National flags. Through this students displayed their creativity and got a chance to show their respect for their motherland. The school Principal Mrs.V.Balachandran apprised the students about the importance of Tricoloured Flag and a group photograph was clicked where the students held the Tricoloured flag high up in the sky..

Janamashtami was celebrated by a solo performance of Prisha Padamgupta of class II B on Janamashtami song and folk song sang by girls of class II D . A Nritya Natika on activities of young Krishna was presented by class IV C.
AIS Vasundhara-1 celebrated Gujarat Day on 25th July, 2011.
This special day became more colourful by the gracious presence of Chairperson Dr. Mrs. Amita Chauhan, Advisor Dr. T.P.S Chauhan, Senior Consultant Mrs. Mohina Dar, School Principal Mrs. V.Balachandran, Headmistress Mrs. Roop Kamal Singh and Co-ordinator Mrs. Veena Mishra. The school council welcomed our dear Chairperson Ma’am, with smart salutation for the dayChildren had dressed up in Gujarat attire and also brought Gujarat delicacies. Gujarat handicrafts were displayed in all the classes thus depicting the complete culture of Gujarat in a formulative manner.
AIS Vas-1 held its first Investiture Ceremony on 14th July, 2011 to induct new council members for the session 2011-12. The ceremony was presided over by Senior Consultant of Amity Schools Mrs. Mohina Dar, Senior Sports Advisor of Amity Col. Ahluwalia, School Principal Mrs. V. Balachandran and Headmistress Mrs. Roop Kamal Singh. The event commenced with the recital of ‘VAKRATUNDA MAHAKAYA’. School Principal Mrs. V. Balachandran began with welcoming all the dignitaries and the parents who came to witness their wards acquiring honors. She highlighted on the qualities of Leadership. According to her, with Chairperson Dr. Mrs. Amita Chauhan’s blessings and the ultimate education of Amity, that of HUMANITY, the students would shoulder their responsibilities well.
This was followed by the welcome song ‘Swagatam Shubh Swagatam’ . School Headmistress Mrs. Roop Kamal Singh announced the names of the office bearers. Mrs. Mohina Dar, Col. Ahluwalia and School Principal Mrs. V. Balachandran conferred the badges of onus to the cabinet members. Prachi Jaiswal was nominated as the Head Girl. She administered the oath to the new prefects. In her address, she exhorted the students’ council to work diligently in fulfilling their duties and responsibilities. Senior consultant of Amity Schools Mrs. Mohina Dar congratulated the new prefectorial board and inspired the students by her speech. She further spoke on the importance of the BADGE that the newly elected members have received. The ceremony ended with the School Song and the National Anthem.
