Prerna Diwas Celebrations

The school celebrated Prerna Diwas to commemorate Dr (Mrs) Amita Chauhan on her birthday on May 1, 2017. The birthday celebrations marked as ‘Human Values Week’ saw the school engage in a number of activities celebrating human values. School choir presented Chanakya’s poem – ‘Kar Prayas, Bhaag Mat’ followed by a cake cutting ceremony. The students also presented beautiful handmade cards to the Chairperson. The highlight of the Day was an interactive session of students with the Chairperson.

Engineering Taster Session

Science students of Class XI and XII participated in an Engineering Taster Session held at AIS PV organised under the aegis of ACCGC. The session was conducted by Prof Stephen Watts, Head of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Cardiff University. The workshop’s objective was to give opportunity to the students to go through a taster lecture session and participate in a project conducted by Prof Watts.

Junior Sports Day

The school celebrated its Annual Sports Fitness Extravaganza ‘SpectrAmity 2017’. Chief guest General Dilawar Singh, Director General, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and guest of honour, Vicky Kapoor, Director, Kravmaga graced the occasion. Students enthusiastically participated in different races such as caterpillar race, tunnel race, budding builders to name a few showing great sportsmanship. School Principal Divya Bhatia presented the annual report highlighting the achievements of students in various fields.

Asian Regional Space Settlement Design Competition

The school team comprising 12 students qualified for participation in the prestigious thirteenth annual Asian Regional Space Settlement Design Competition (ARSSDC) held at Gurgaon. The competition gives a platform to high school students to discover their innovative streak and design a city in space, apt for housing over 10,000 people.

Educational Trip to Humayun Tomb

The school organised an educational trip to Humayun Tomb for the students of Class III. The students were apprised to know the historic importance of the place. The tomb was commissioned by humayun’s first wife and chief consort, Empress Bega Begum, in 1569-70, and designed by Mirak Mirza Ghiyas, a Persian architect chosen by her. It was a great learning experience for the students.

A Skype chat session with the students of Belarus was organised for the students of class III on the topic ‘Our Community’. Students prepared various models of different communities like post office, hospital, ATM, school, shopping malls, etc. using edible materials like chocolates, fruits, etc. They wished the partner school Merry Christmas and bid goodbye to them.

Educational Trip to Air Force Museum

The school organised an educational trip to Air force museum for the students of Class III. Children saw souvenirs with some rare aircrafts like HAL Gnatt II E-265, HAL HT-2 IX-737, Douglas C-47, etc. They were also taken to children’s park, Lado Sarai for lunch and refreshments. Little children enjoyed the whole experience.

Students of Class KG gave a Project Presentation on the topic ‘Transport’. The story unfolded with the hardship of early man while travelling to invention of the wheel and finally reaching the pinnacle with rockets. Little ones forayed into the wonderful world of air, land and water transport talking about various vehicles and their uses. They also taught their parents to obey and follow traffic rules which was well appreciated by the audience.

The ceremony titled ‘Shubhashish’ began with a havan followed by lamp lighting amidst chanting of shlokas. The outgoing students spoke about their association with the school and thanked the teachers and staff for nurturing them with love and care. The evening was blessed with the presence of Chairperson and Dr Ashok K Chauhan, Founder President, Amity universe who congratulated the entire Amity family on the successful completion of the school’s 25 years. Dr MC Mishra, Director, AIIMS was the chief guest on the occasion. The highlight of the evening was the dance drama ‘Dilli- Itihaas ke pannon se’ which aptly presented the history of cosmopolitan capital.

National Conference on Science Education

Teachers Sandeep Kaushik (TGT Physics) and Manish Harish (PGT Physics) from school participated in the National Conference on Science Education organised by NCERT at the Regional Institute of Education, Ajmer. Sandeep Kaushik presented papers orally on the topic ‘Use of ICT for Physics teachings’ while Manish Harish presented papers on ‘Recent Trends in Science Education.

Tech Fest- AlphaBit

Twenty one schools took part in this symposium that tested the aptitude of students in multifarious disciplines of technology and provided a platform for productive interaction. The events included Quiz, Programming, Digital Art, Gaming and Group Discussion. AIS Saket won first position in the Gaming event and third position in the Programming event. The rolling trophy was bagged by Mont Fort School, Ashok Vihar. School Principal Divya Bhatia lauded the efforts of all the participants.

Grandparent's Day

The KG students of the school invited their grandparents to visit them in their classrooms on the occasion of Grandparent’s Day. The children welcomed their grandparents and started their day with daily activities like morning prayers, exercises, thought for the day, word of the day and also shared some amazing facts and news. The day culminated with refreshments, souvenirs and a lot of applauses, giggles and new learnings.

Blood Donation Camp

The school Interact Club organised a Blood Donation Camp in association with Rotary International, Delhi Midtown. Over 179 volunteers took part. A total of 69 blood units were collected and submitted at Rotary Blood Bank.

The first level of Vasudha, an initiative of Dr (Mrs) Amita Chauhan, Chairperson Amity Group of Schools and RBEF, to instil scientific temper in school children was for classes KG to XII. The students worked in Groups of 4-5 and created working models which enabled them to present the concepts in an easy, interesting and fun filled manner. The theme for Vasudha was Science Technology and Innovation for Sustainable Development.

Sanskrit Week

To stress upon the significance of one of the oldest languages, 'Sanskrit', AIS Saket organised a week-long celebrations that comprised various events like Sanskrit olympiad, shloka recitation, picture description and quiz for students of Class VI-VIII, verse recitation and dialogue presentation for the students of IX-X were organised. To felicitate the winners of the various competitions, 'Sanskrit Day' was organised by the school on August 12, 2016 in the school premises. Dr (Mrs) Amita Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity Group of Schools & RBEF, and chief guest for the day, Ramesh Kumar Pandey, Vice Chancellor, Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Sanskrit Institute, graced the event. Various cultural performances like 'Shiv Tandav Stotram', 'Mahishasur Mardini Stotra' and a small skit on 'Andher nagri chaupat raja' were also performed during the event.

Educational Presentation
Learning at Amity is a fine balance of learning from the books and meticulously designed activities that keep the children engaged. Keeping this in mind, the school organised a project presentation for the students of different classes with different themes. On August 22, Class VI students made a project presentation on the topic ‘Our government, Desh ki backbone’. The presentation focused on how Indian government is making progress while introducing new policies. On August 11, Class VII showcased a presentation on 'The Mughal Empire' with a timeline of the major rulers along with short stories related to them. On August 6, Class VIII enacted the tale of their supplementary reader 'Great Expectations'.

Self Defense Camp for girls

In keeping with the ideologies of women empowerment espoused by Dr. (Mrs) Amita Chauhan, Chairperson Amity Group of Schools and RBEF, Axis Bank and Delhi Police – Women Safety wing organized a self-defense camp for girls of classes VII–VIII on the occasion of International Women’s Day. The one hour camp conducted by a team of Delhi Police constables demonstrated various techniques of self-defense and attack to protect oneself from eve teasing or any unusual behavior by any male person in a public place.
