ASFT organizes various activities like Seminars & Talk Shows to have an interaction with the Industry Professionals. It regularly invites professionals from various industries who share their experience and help students put their theoretical knowledge into practice.Leading Design schools have participated in the various Inter Institute Competitions organized by ASFT.

‘‘Expectations of the Fashion Industry from Young Professionals.’’

Amity School of Fashion Technology (ASFT) & Amity School of Fine Arts (ASFA) conducted the orientation programme for the new batch of students of MBA (Fashion Management) from 18th to 20th July, 2011 & for all the other programmes from 27th to 29th July, 2011.

20th July, 2011, witnessed the industry speakers from reputed design, brand and retail companies addressing the new batch of MBA (Fashion Management) students on the topic of “Expectations of the Fashion Industry from Young Professionals.” This session saw a galaxy of well-known industry professionals having extensive experience with reputed companies sharing their invaluable knowledge with the students. The session opened with Mr.Rishabh Gupta, North Head-Marketing, Pantaloon throwing some light on the scenario of the retail industry in India and abroad. He elaborated on the dream of Future Group and its journey from inception to expansion. This was followed by an address by Ms.Garima Makkar who with her rich experience in reputed companies like Duke Fashions, Avon, H2O Plus & Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Beauty & Wellness Division) motivated the students to achieve new heights as the sky is the limit for the right professionals.

The session further continued with Ms.Chhavi Singh, Area Manager (Delhi NCR), Arvind Lifetsyle Brands Ltd. emphasizing the various skills and knowledge levels required by youngsters to succeed in the various functional areas of Fashion Management. Mr. Anil Goklani, a successful Retail Entrepreneur, heading 3 Exclusive Brand Outlets (EBOs) of Levi Strauss, Adam Clothing and Walk-in MnB detailed the evolution of Fashion Marketing & Retailing in India and the need of the industry in the changing global environment. Mr.Arun Tiwari, Design Consultant & Owner, Earthen Canvas, a designer-wear brand shared his rich experience with Allen Solly, Madura Garments as well as his own entrepreneurial streak and emphasized the need for a dual combination of creativity & management for succeeding in the Fashion industry.
The industry interface for all the other academic programmes of ASFT & ASFA took place on 29th July, 2011 and saw leading experts from Fashion & Apparel industry, artists & animation professionals pay a visit to Amity University, Noida and enthral the students with their presentations. This interface with the industry commenced with Mr. Savio Nunes, Asst. Vice President – Operations, North at Lifestyle India Pvt. Ltd. encouraging students by the growth opportunities being offered by the retail industry in India & abroad. This was followed by an engrossing presentation from Ms. Aruna Bal Sharma, Retail Head, Rohit Bal Fashions, who is taking care of the Balance Chain of Designer-wear stores. Ms. Sharma quoted from her 25 years of experience in Belgium and other European countries and reputed companies like KSA-Technopak thereby guiding the students for excelling in their careers.

Mr. Rajesh Chaudhary, Sr. Manager – HR, Pantaloon Retail India Limited then took on the stage and interacted with the students about the changing scenario of the Indian Retail Industry and how the various retail players are putting their act together to deal with it. After this presentation, Mr. Niket Mishra, Designer, Niket & Jainee emphasized the role of creativity in today’s fashion industry. Mr. Shakti Sinha, Business Head, Lerros then spoke on the various opportunities being thrown open in Indian Apparel Market as well as the challenges of increasing competition due to the arrival of various foreign garment brands in the country.

Mr. Anurag Rajpal, Executive Director, APPAREL BRANDS, SPENCER’S RETAIL emphasized on the need for various skills and knowledge levels required to succeed in the fashion & apparel industry. Mr. Manik Dhodi, Vice President, Shipra World familiarized the students with the world of Shopping Malls and the scope offered by them for the ever-increasing fashion & apparel brands within the country and abroad.
Ms. Kavita Nayar, Senior Artist emphasized the need for passion for work and generating ideas and working on them. Mr. Sharad Mittal, CEO, Kathputlee Animation Studio swayed the students with his audio visual presentation. Ms. Esha Guha, Senior Vice President, Concept Communication Ltd. talked about the finer aspects of professionalism and Mr. Anil Sharma, Art Director emphasized the role of creativity and thinking innovatively for succeeding in today’s industry.             

The students enthusiastically interacted with the industry speakers and gathered the pearls of wisdom provided by them. Dr.Pradeep Joshi, Director, ASFT & ASFA graced the occasion with his benign presence.

KREATIV ‘11
Amity School of Fashion Technology (ASFT), Amity School of Performing Arts (ASPA) & Amity School of Fine Arts (ASFA) commenced the celebration of the two day (March 16th – 17th, 2011) annual fashion art festival ‘KREATIV’11 to provide an exclusive platform to the students for them to uphold their hard work and talent to the spectators and veterans of Art industry in myriad forms of Applied Art, Painting and Animation at Amity University Campus, Sector – 125, Noida.

Delivering his welcome address Director Amity School of Fashion Technology (ASFT), Amity School of Fine Arts (ASFA) and Amity School of Performing Arts (ASPA), Dr. Pradeep Joshi said “KREATIV is a unique gift of opportunity for the students to disrobe the figments of their imaginations in forms of admirable pictorial reflections before the experts of the world of Art and also to innumerable others who are inclined to Aesthetics.”

Presenting her inaugural address Chairperson, ASPA, ASFA and ASFT, Mrs. Divya Chauhan said “It is genuine honor to have aboard a galaxy of eminent industry experts and living legendary representatives of Artistry during the sojourn of KREATIV ’11, to add a fillip to the blossoming talents of tomorrow who’d be blooming in the horizons of Fashion, Art, Creativity and Brand Innovation.” She added “the students eagerly wait for this time of the year to arrive wherein they can reveal their artsy best to the veterans of Art and Culture through their works.”

The enriching festival unfolded with an engrossing talk show themed on ‘Business of Fashion : India an emerging hub’ wherein Fashion & Apparel industry experts including Mr. R.C. Kesar, Director General OGTC , Ms. Anshu Man, Managing Director - Aman Atlantic Limited, New Delhi, Shri Vasdev Loond, Director – Mona Designs & Ex-president - G.E.A , Ms. Arti Singh, Sr. Marketing Manager - Shipra Mall, Mr. Altaf Hussain, HR Manager (Head HR) ITC, Mr. Ashvini Kumar, DGM-Retail, Uninor , Ms. Pratimaa Pandey, Designer, Ms. Shashi Nangia, MD. Swati Exim Pvt Ltd Mr. George Martin, Artist, Mr. Arvind Mehta, Chief Operating Officer, Gold Plus Group, Mr. Kamal Malik, Mr. Anupam Trehan, Manager - Global Indirect sourcing Bharti-Wal-Mart and various others contributed their valuable insight to the audience.

Sharing her views on ‘Business of Fashion: India an emerging hub’ with the future industry professionals Ms. Anshu Man, Managing Director - Aman Atlantic Limited, New Delhi informed “the world market is in need of improved cost competitiveness, better quality levels, strong manufacturing base and awareness of export markets.” Talking about India’s commendable grasp in understanding the international quality standards of Apparel industry she stated “India’s biggest advantage is its research and development and handwork of artisans that have led it to make new product developments. India over time has emerged as the next business destination to the overseas clients.” “The liberalization of domestic economy and the increasing integration of India with the global economy has made India – a benefitting platform for business and the Indian textile industry will grow up to $ 110 billion U.S Dollars by 2015, with export of $ 50 billion U.S Dollars” said Ms. Man during the inauguration of KREATIV’11.

During his address Mr. Ashvini Kumar, DGM-Retail, Uninor expressed his sheer delight in interacting with the students fraternity and said “It is heartening to witness that India is becoming the prime focus for international clients, the reason being its robust growth rate even during shrinking global economy. He added “there is both hope and scope in the Indian market at present and it is rather expected to improve further by many folds in the times to come for the aspiring professionals to pursue their careers. All they should ensure is the trio of right attitude, skils and knowledge to have success to chasing them.”

Interacting with the students Ms. Arti Singh, Sr. Marketing Manager - Shipra Mall, said “Fashion consciousness and brand awareness today have penetrated the lifestyles of the Indians to the extent where even toddlers are prompt in identifying themselves with the brands that offer their category of Haute couture or accessories, unlike a decade or two ago.” She added “this practically evinces the fact that fashion now has seeped into the lives of people in a deep and intense way to develop greater shopping habits in and also develop more fashion consciousness and brand awareness in them.”

The inaugural day of KREATIV ’11 was further embellished with the exotic exhibition and display work of graduating students of FINE ARTS programmes (to continue during the two days of the festival) and an Inter Institute Competition (For Apparel Design, Painting & Animation).

A talk show on “Indian Art in Global Art Scenario” by renowned artists like Ms. Sunaina Anand, Director, Art Alive Gallery, Dr. Alka Raghuvanshi, Artist, Mr. George Martin, Artist, Mr. Farhad Hussain, Artist, Ms. Neha Kripal , Director , India Art Summit, Mr. Anil Sharma,Art Director, Ms. Reshma Jaiswal, Rudra Eye Mr. Samit Das, Artist etc and a Ceremony to confer Lifetime Achievement Awards to , Padma Vibushan Dr. Sonal Mansingh (Dance), Padma Shree Ms. Anjolie Ela Menon (Art) and renowned Designer Mr. Suneet Varma (Fashion) were  the chief highlights of the final day of KREATIV 11.

The other attractions of the festival to unfold during the concluding day included ‘NATYA-KATHA Story Telling with a difference’ by Padma Vibhushan, Dr. Sonal Mansingh, a Fashion Show & Brand Show – showcasing design collection of students and an Award ceremony wherein categories of Emerging Talent Awards (based on the Inter institute Competition) as well as Awards for Best Display/ Graduation Design Collection (for ASFT & ASFA ) have been  bestowed upon.

KREATIV ‘10

Fashion, fun and fiesta with a dash of knowledge sharing and hobnobbing with renowned artists, fashion designers marked the beginning of two day “ Kreativ 10”, the annual Fashion and Art event by Amity School of Fine Arts (ASFA) and Amity School of Fashion Technology (ASFT). The event started with a talk show on “ Indian Art in Global Scenario” in which renowned artists Mr. Keshav Malik – Sr. Art Critic, Mr. Suneet Chopra- Sr. Art Critic, Ms. Mithu Sen- Artist, Mr. M. Ramachandran- Regional Secretary, Lalit Kala Academy, Delhi and Ms. Rosshni Vadhera- Vadhera Art Gallery presented their views.

The seminar was followed by honoring of the eminent artist, Mr. Satish Gujral with Lifetime Achievement Award for Art by Ms. Divya Chauhan- Chairperson, Amity School of Fine Arts (ASFA) and Amity School of Fashion Technology (ASFT). The artist was accompanied by his wife, Ms. Kiran Gujral. Mr. Satish Gujral and his wife inaugurated “ SRIJAN”, which is an exhibition and display of the works of graduating students of Amity School of Fine Arts.

The function was also attended by Maj. Gen K J Singh- Vice Chancellor, Amity University, Uttar Pradesh, Dr. B Shukla- Pro Vice Chancellor (A), Amity University, Dr. Pradeep Joshi- Director, Amity School of Fine Arts (ASFA) and Amity School of Fashion Technology (ASFT).

Prolific experts from Fashion, Textile, Apparel and Retail industry including Mr. Shiv Bhargava, CEO, Viraj Exports Pvt Ltd, Prof.(Dr.) S.M. Ishtiaque, Dy.Director, IIT, Delhi, Mr. Baqar Iftikhar Naqvi, Associate Vice President, Technopak, Bangalore, One Design Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Ms. Pooja Makhija, Director,  Fashion Futures were speakers in the Talk Show on the theme “India – Emerging Hub of Fashion Industry”.

Further to it, there was interesting Panel discussion on theme “Opportunities & Challenges to creativity in an increasingly digitized world”.  The panelists included Ms. Esha Guja (Sr.Vice Presient, Concept Communication Ltd), Mr. Sanjay Tiwari (CEO, Juxt Consult Research & Consultancy Pvt Ltd), Mr. Jose Joseph (Creativity Director – Vishal Communication Consultant), Mr. Ashok Kumar Verma (Sr. Compositor, Kathputali Animation Studio) and Mr. Deepak Singh (Fashion Designer).

It was announced during KREATIV ’10 that Mr. Tarun Tahiliani,Eminent Fashion Designer is being conferred Lifetime Achievement Award for his enduring contribution of an exceptional order in the field of Fashion and Design.

The Fashion Show which was designed, compiled, presented by students of Amity School of Fashion Technology was amalgamation of tradition, ethnic, western and futuristic vision. Each segment displayed the creativity of students. Every one present during the show appreciated the works of students.

SANGATHAN: The annual Amity Universe Sports meet is a month-long sports festival with 22 events.


MILITARY CAMP:
All Post Graduate students are required to attend the mandatory military training camp being held at our 110-acre sprawling Amity campus at Manesar.
