B.Sc. + M.Sc in Actuarial Science (Dual Degree) :

About Course :


It is a 5 years Bachelors cum Masters degree program where the focus will be on developing a unique blend of strong mathematical skills, real world business understanding, communication, interpersonal and leadership skills; all of which have been identified by the Actuarial Profession as core skills required by trainee actuaries. In addition to inculcating these attributes, this program also focuses on imparting quality education in the field of Insurance and Risk Management.


Highlights of the program :


  • Switching option
    Students will have the option of taking placements after graduation or to enroll into M.Sc. Actuarial Science program for another 2 years and completing their dual degree program in 5 years.
  • Coverage of Core Technical Actuarial Papers
    This program acts like a spring board to pass the papers of the Institute of Actuaries with ease.
  • Industrial training
    Last semester is dedicated to Industrial training to give hands on experience in the actuarial environment.
  • Placement Assistance
    There has been an excellent placement record for the existing M.Sc (Actuarial Science) program and the same support will be available to the new Dual Degree program.


MBA (Insurance) :

MBA (Insurance) Program has been designed with dual specialization including one compulsorily in insurance. First year course is aimed at providing students with a foundation in the fundamental functional disciplines – Insurance Marketing, IT and Finance etc. Besides, the fields covered include Economics, Behavioral Science, Foreign Business Language & Quantitative Techniques in Management.

Second year course lays emphasis on in-depth understanding of insurance and one more core functional area out of available options viz Finance, Marketing and Entrepreneurship.

The curriculum has been designed to impart knowledge and skills considered essential to lead and manage successfully in an increasingly dynamic and complex business environment. Participative Managerial Effectiveness which runs almost throughout the course assists students to manage such an environment.

The curriculum is complemented by teaching methodologies which include lectures, case discussions, exercises, projects, surprise tests and quizzes that prepare the students for future challenges at workplace.



M.Sc. In Actuarial Science :

The subject of Actuarial Science has derived its roots from Mathematics, Statistics, Economics and Finance. It has applications in the field of Life insurance, General insurance, Health insurance, Reinsurance, Valuation of Retirement Benefits viz. Gratuity, Pension,leave Encashment, etc. Asset valuation, Pricing of Securities and Derivatives, Risk Valuation, Risk Management and so on. An actuary is a financial problem-solver with a unique blend of mathematical, analytical and business skills. Actuaries, utilizing their mathematical and statistical skills, analyze past events, assess present risks and model the future. Actuarial skills are valuable for any business managing long-term financial projects both in the public and private sectors.
