Director's Message
The opening up of the insurance sector has opened up new vistas of employment opportunities. As on date, fourteen insurance companies in the life insurance and an equal number in the non-life insurance (inclusive of Public Sector Companies) are in the market while more companies are waiting in the wings. The above players are in the expansion mode. The de-tarrification of general insurance business slated for 2005 is set to generate intense competition amongst the players and also much greater demand for actuarially skilled/qualified persons. The entry of Brokers and Third Party Administrators in the Health Sector is set to change the face of the industry dramatically. The pension sector is set to undergo a revamp with the selling up of a separate regulator for the pension portfolio. All this and the introduction of multiple distribution channels have made insurance very alluring and attractive as a career option.

Amity School of Insurance and Actuarial Science was proactively established by world renowned Ritnand Balved Education Foundation in the year 2000 with the clear objective of providing trained manpower to the new players. Today after almost three years, I draw great satisfaction to the fact that our students have been very well accepted by the industry. Most of our students have created a niche for themselves in their work places.

The students are given comprehensive inputs on life and non-life insurance modules backed by practical exercises for in-depth understanding of the subjects. The insurance industry has roped in many highly-qualified and skilled personnel from different streams. In order to ensure that our students can stand up in competition to their skills, we have introduced management modules like Marketing, Customer Relation Management, Communications, Behavioral Science and I.T. Applications. A lot of emphasis is laid on communication and Behavioral science. As a student, you will be required to conduct a large number of surveys and undertake projects to gain insight into the issues involved from the point of the industry and the customers. We aim to develop the overall personality of the students with focus on knowledge and human values. Interaction with different companies through guest lectures, sports meets and cultural programs is an integral part of the life at the campus. We make learning a joy. I am very sure, individual guidance through the mentor system will enable each student to find his future with confidence.

We have now come of age. We are also offering MBA (Insurance), M. Sc. in Actuarial Science and some other short-term programs to meet the demands of the industry. I can assure that if you work hard and are committed to the goal, a great future awaits you.
