We have organized a three day workshop-cum-training programme in collaboration with Petroleum Conservation Research Association (MINISTRY OF PETROLEUM AND NATURAL GAS) and National Oilseeds & Vegetable Oils Development Board (MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE), Government of India, on the above subject from 2-4 May 2006 at Amity Campus, Jaipur (Rajasthan). The U.S. Embassy and the U.S. Department of Energy and the Uttaranchal Bio-diesel Board sponsored the event and actively participated in this. The seminar attended from across a wide range of stakeholders in the energy and environment sector along with farmers, NGOs and representatives from Research/Academic Institute. The suggested topics covered under various sessions were:
1. Dimensions of Bio-fuels in the Indian context.
2. Experiences of Bio-diesel from other countries.
3. Technological details regarding raising of Jatropha and Pongamia plantation in India.
4. Economic constraints related factors for consideration.
5. Esterification issues, needs and methods.
6. Quality consideration.
7. Research issues & constraints regarding Bio-diesel engine.
8. Economic evaluation of Bio-diesel production from Jatropha and Pongamia.
9. Legal issues related to transport. Fillings, storage & related matters.
