Three-Day Bio-pesticide International Conference at Amity University Chhattisgarh

Amity University Chhattisgarh is organising the Three -Day 6th Biopesticide International Conference (BIOCICON) in collaboration with St. Xavier’s College Palayamkottai, Tamil Nadu from 06th – 08th March 2019. The conference has got sponsorship from Chhattisgarh Council of Science and Technology (CG COST) Raipur.

The inauguration of the conference has been scheduled at 10:00 am on 6th March in presence of Dr. W. Selvamurthy, Hon’ble chancellor, Amity University Chhattisgarh. Dr. Azucena Gonzalez Coloma, Investigating Scientist, Instutute of Agricultural Sciences, Madrid (Spain) was the chief guest of the function. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Amity University Chhattisgarh Prof. (Dr.) Rajendra Kumar Pandey, Hon’ble Dy. Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) V.S. Dahima, and senior officials and other faculty members would also be present during the session.

In BIOCICON-2019, more than 20 international delegates from Germany, Spain, West Indies, Kenya, and France along with 200 Indian researchers deliberated upon the scientific progress in the field of biopesticides. The international conference is aimed towards finding a balance between human health and global agriculture.  The economy of the state of Chhattisgarh is predominantly agro-based. The conference would provide an opportunity to learn, review, implement and to inculcate recent avances in the sciences of biopesticides and related technologies. It will be beneficial to the farmers, agro-based industries and researchers to be aware of the challenges and opportunities for the employment of biopesticides in bolstering food security and human health in a rapidly changing global environment. Moreover, it will also help to build contacts and collaborations with participants from many different parts of the world.

A special session is arranged for the farmers wherein the local farmers have been invited to discuss their problems with the speakers rom India and abroad. An active participation of the local farmers in the conference would ensure that they learn the know-how of development, application and advantages of Biopesticides.  The conference is aimed not just to generate scientific outcomes but practical as well as social outcomes as well. The organisers also plan to publish research papers presented at the conference in scholarly journals of repute.
