Teaching German as a Foreign Language through textbook ‘Starten Wir’
Mr Daniel Krasa conducted an FDP on teaching methodology and tools to be used in a classroom with focus on the textbook ‘Starten Wir’. The structure of the book was discussed in detail. He discussed how one can optimally use a textbook in class despite the fact that a text is only a tool. How to prepare for a class keeping into consideration the structure of the textbook, which also includes an app and other audio visual methods.With the help of sample textbooks the participants got practical insight into teaching techniquesThe use of technology in a classroom was also discussed. The textbook now comes with an app that can be used by the students anytime and anywhere. New approaches to pedagogy and learning were also analysed.
The workshop gave the faculties an excellent opportunity to interact with such an experienced and renowned name in Foreign language teaching. The participants gained a lot from his innovative teaching techniques and usage of a textbook in class. Also, we got to learn lot from the app of the textbook which is a very unique way to get the students motivated to use technology in class and be motivated to learn even when they are not sitting and studying in a classroom. The Textbooks encourage a lot of self learning. Overall it was a very informative workshop.
