Guest lecture on Magneto-Structural Quantum Phases and Finite-size effects in Magnetic Nanostructures by Dr Subhash Thota

Amity School of Applied Science, Amity University Gurgaon organized a guest lecture on Magneto-Structural Quantum Phases and Finite-size effects in Magnetic Nanostructures by Dr Subhash Thota (Associate Professor, Department of Physics, IIT Guwahati) on 11th August.

Dr Thota begins his lecture by sharing some wonderful pictures of IIT Guwahati campus and very interesting cutting-edge research in the field of supercapacitors. He explained the science of supercapacitors through briefing of the double layer, capacitance, Helmholtz’s double layer etc.

Dr Thota motivated the students by giving them the example of ‘Eaasha Khare’ who has discovered a quick mobile charger at the age of 13 only. He discussed the celebrated Moore’s law and the relevance of spintronics and Recent developments like spin transistors and light emitting diode which had created a lot of enthusiasm among students. Dr.Thota emphasized on the importance of interdisciplinary research to the students.

Dr.Thota expressed his deep interest in long-term academic collaboration and research work with faculty of Amity University Gurgaon.
