Amity University Madhya Pradesh Celebrates its Seventh Raising Day on 19th September 2017

The seventh Raising Day at Amity University Madhya Pradesh, Gwalior was celebrated with gaiety and fervor on 19th Sept 2017. The celebrations began with the welcome of Hon’ble Chancellor Amity University Madhya Pradesh, Prof (Dr) Sunil Saran who was the Chief Guest for the occasion. The lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Prof (Dr) Sunil Saran Hon’ble Chancellor AUMP , Lt Gen V K Sharma, AVSM (Retd), Hon’ble Vice Chancellor AUMP, Mr J Girish, Vice President RBEF, Mr Nishant Gupta, GM (Training)Reliance ADA Group, Sasan Mega Power Plant, Prof (Dr) M P Kaushik Pro Vice Chancellor, AUMP and other dignitaries followed. Thereafter, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor AUMP presented the Annual Report of the University. He traced the growth of the University which had started with just one block and 150 students to its present strength of around 2064 students with three academic blocks, three hostel blocks, and even more planned. He apprised the audience about the 31 programmes being offered at AUMP. He also enlightened the audience about the achievements of the students, International programme-SAP being offered in the campus, projects done by the students, the scholarships offered at AUMP, the efforts being made in research and publications and about the successful placements at AUMP.

The anniversary issue of “The Amitian”, the monthly newsletter of AUMP was also released on this occasion. Hon’ble Chancellor, Prof (Dr) Sunil Saran, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Lt Gen Sharma along with Mr Girish and Mr Nishant Gupta gave away the Academic Excellence Awards for the session 2016-17 and also the Dr. Ashok K Chauhan 100% & 50% Scholarship Awards for the session 2016-17. Prizes for various events like Essay Writing competition, Elocution competition, Cleanest Hostel Room competition and Best short movie contest, which were held to celebrate “Swachchta Pakhwada” as mandated by UGC, were also given to the students. A short film prepared by ASCO, showcasing various activities of the University during Academic Year 2016-17 was shown followed by “Khwabida” - a cultural program by the students of AUMP .

This was followed by the address of Hon’ble Chancellor who spoke of the genesis of Amity as a concept and with the vision of Dr Ashok K Chauhan our beloved Founder President. The Hon’ble Chancellor adviced the students to adopt three qualities in their lives for being successful: Ambition, Humility and Creativity. He also emphasised on the soft skills as enshrined in the booklet -101 attributes of Amitians. Dr Saran motivated the students and faculty with his words of wisdom. Towards the end of the programme, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Amity University Madhya Pradesh Lt Gen V K Sharma AVSM (Retd) presented mementos to Prof (Dr) Sunil Saran, Mr J Girish and Mr Nishant Gupta. The first half of the function ended with the Vote of thanks proposed by Prof (Dr) M P Kaushik Pro Vice Chancellor AUMP. This was followed by Lunch with all HOIs/HODs and invitees.

In the post lunch session of the function, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor accompanied Prof. Saran to acquaint him with the research projects and models prepared by the students of AUMP, displayed in the foyers of Block A, B and C which were highly appreciated by the Hon’ble Chancellor. The honourable Chief Guest also interacted with the media over High Tea and briefed them about the future plans of AUMP. The HoIs, HoDs and faculty members also had the golden opportunity to interact with the Hon’ble Chancellor in the Seminar Hall, Block A.

The visit of the Hon’ble Chancellor was a great motivation for everyone at Amity University Madhya Pradesh, Gwalior.
