Workshop on “Lactation and Breastfeeding: An Initiative for Professionals of Tomorrow”

Amity College of Nursing, Amity University Gurgaon organize a workshop on “Lactation and Breastfeeding” on 2nd August part of a 15-year journey to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on the occasion of Breastfeeding Week(1st to 7th August 2017) with the mentorship of Ms. Victoria Kumar, MSN in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Infant & Young Child Feeding Specialist by Breastfeeding Promotion Network of India Education Specialist with Medela India Pvt. Ltd.( Lactation Consultant). The theme of the workshop was -“Sustaining Breastfeeding Together”.  The workshop was organized to fulfil the objective of creating awareness among the health professionals, student nurses, faculty members of AUH on breastfeeding so that the breastfeeding rate among the mothers can be increased.

Inaugural speech was given by Mr Robin J Bhatti, Asst. Professor (ACON) for all distinguished resource person participants and dignitaries on dice including Maj. Gen. (Dr.) Mahavir Singh (Dean, FHAS), Prof. Ms Pranati Barua, Prof. Ratni Bhan. Ms Pranati Barua briefed about the workshop to the audience.

Ms Victoria Kumar(Lactation Consultant) begins her session with the Introduction to Breastfeeding. She explained about the importance of breastfeeding, nutritive value of breastfeeding, physiology of lactation, EBF, benefits of breastfeeding, WHO Code and a practical demonstration about ways of giving breastfeed were explained concisely. She had also given hands-on experience to the participants about the Do’s & Don’ts including the myths about breastfeeding and a quiz session with Participants.

Valedictory remarks were given by Dr. Smriti Arora  Ms. Pranati Barua (Principal ACON) felicitates Ms Victoria Kumar with the memento.
