Workshop on “National Nutrition Week”

Amity College of Nursing, Amity University Gurgaon celebrated “National Nutrition Week” from 1st September to the 7th September to aware the people about important tips for their health and well-being with "Optimal Infant & Young Child Feeding Practices: Better Child Health" and series of activity for the whole week.

The welcome address was given by Prof. Pranati Barua (Principal ACON). Maj. Gen. (Dr) Mahavir Singh (Dean faculty of health and allied science) and Prof. Manjari Chandra (Senior Consultant Nutritionist, Max Multispecialty Hospital) graced the occasion with their remarkable presses. The inaugural session was taken by taken by Prof. Manjari Chandra on Recent trends in Nutrition” followed by the session of Dr Luxita Sharma on “Nutrition in Early Childhood” and a panel discussion by M.Sc. Nursing 1st-semester students.

National Nutrition Week event started with Poster making competition with THEME: “Better Nutrition: Key to Development” for Nursing students in which 34 students participated. After that, the event was in the community set up by 7th-semester students in  group projects at PHC Kasan, Bhorakalan and Bhangrola school health assessment, fruits and vegetable show in Govt. schools of Kasan and Bhangrola. Doctors and staff of Primary health centre participated and appreciated the efforts done by students to make the national nutrition week a grand success.

On the second day, National Nutrition week begin with Salad making competition in nutrition lab to make students aware about the importance of healthy balanced diet. The theme for the competition was “SAVOR THE FLAVOUR OF EATING RIGHT”.
