Amity University Madhya Pradesh organizes “Paridhan 2017” on 13th October, 2017

Amity University, Madhya Pradesh has always been at the forefront to instil young minds to try, learn and succeed. In the series of the events held from time to time to promote the youth of the campus, for the first time a fashion show of its very own kind “PARIDHAN-2017” was introduced by Amity School of Fashion Design & Technology on 13th October 2017. The essence of the show was its theme “MP AJAB HAI SABSE GAJAB HAI”. The core purpose of the event was to introduce young talents to the diverse textile crafts of Madhya Pradesh and to give them the opportunity to voice the same while walking on the ramp. Three subthemes were presented in different rounds viz Chanderi Choga for females where variety of traditional chanderi sarees were adorned by the models in unique drapes, Bagh Chapai for males where the focus was on the hand block printed textiles and Bandhejkari for couples where a blend of bandhani and zardoji work was presented in the best way.

Lt Gen V K Sharma, AVSM (Retd.), Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, AUMP along with Prof. (Dr) M P Kaushik, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Amity University inaugurated “PARIDHAN” by lighting the ceremonial lamp. The chief guest for the event was Mrs Meenakshi Mathur, winners of beauty pageants like Mrs Universe Famous 2016, Mrs Asia Pacific Universe, Mrs India Queen of Substance 2016, Femina Ms India etc. to name a few. The jury panel included Mr Mitender Darshan Singh (Rubaroo Mr India 2017), Dr Sarika Chauhan (Mental Health Alumni from Harvard University Cambridge, Motivational Speaker, Environmentalist & an Activist around in the US & UK) & Mrs Ruchi Thakur (MD Revital Mantra). The event also helped in building a bond with many corporate sponsors.

About 42 contestants participated in the event. Mr Abhhishek Ajeriya from Amity School of Architecture & Planning, Gwalior was the winner for Bagh Chapai round, Ms Nidhi Ahuja from KRG Girls College, Kampoo was the winner for Chanderi Choga round & Mr Shiekh Shavej from Delhi & Ms Mansa Singh from Amity Institute of Biotechnology, Gwalior were the best couple for Bandhejkari round.

Lt Gen V K Sharma (AVSM Retd.), Vice Chancellor, AUMP, applauded the efforts and dedication of the students for putting up such a great show and wished them the best of luck in their future endeavours.
