Amity School of Engineering & Technology organizes a National Seminar on “Scientific and Technical Terminology in Science and Technology” on 29th - 30th November, 2017

Amity School of Engineering & Technology, Amity University Madhya Pradesh organized a National Seminar on Scientific and Technical Terminology in Science and Technology on November 29th & 30th, 2017. This seminar was organized to discuss the growth and create a forum for development of technical terminologies in Hindi and other regional languages. The objective was to highlight the importance of regional languages for effective and efficient work by delivering technical instructions in regional languages at the lower levels. With increasing urbanization, the role of technology has increased in every corner of life. Therefore, to understand technical terms, efficient transfer of technical knowledge is needed.

Several distinguished speakers from Commission for Scientific and Technical Terminology and various other reputed academic institutions graced the occasion with their presence and delivered their talks during the seminar. They illustrated that technical terminologies in Hindi can be used for easy understanding of technical knowledge and encouraged the participants to develop more and more technical vocabulary in Hindi and other regional languages.

The programme started with the registrations of participants. The inaugural session started with auspicious lamp lighting by Chief Guest Lt. Gen. V. K. Sharma, AVSM (Retd.), Hon’ble Vice Chancellor AUMP, Programme Chairpersons Prof. Avaneesh Kumar, Chairman CSTT, New Delhi, Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) M. P. Kaushik and Maj. Gen. (Dr.) S. C. Jain, VSM** (Retd.), Director ASET, AUMP. This was followed by Saraswati Vandana guests from the Commission for Scientific and Technical Terminology viz. Er. M. L. Meena, Bureau Chief, Shiv Kumar Chaudhari, Er. Jai Singh Rawat, Seminar-in-charge and Local Coordinator Dr. Sumit Narula, Director Amity School of Communication and Asst. Co-ordinator Mr. Nasir Khan, HoD ME, AUMP were felicitated and introduced to audience. Dean Research Prof. (Dr.) S. P. Bajpai, Dean Academics Prof. (Dr.) R. S. Tomar, Registrar Shri Rajesh Jain, Deans, HOIs, HODs, faculty members of Amity University, Gwalior and many participants were also present on the occasion.

To commence the proceedings, Local coordinator & Director ASCO, AUMP, Dr. Sumit Narula delivered the opening remarks and enlightened the participants with the importance of technical terminologies in Hindi and other regional languages. He spoke of the importance of development of technical terminologies of Physics, Chemistry and Electronics for better & efficient communication at lower levels.

This was followed by the welcome address of Er. Jai Singh Rawat. He discussed the importance of seminar for publicising the efforts of commission for developing the scientific and technical terms in different languages of India.

Prof. Avneesh Kumar, Chairman CSTT addressed the participants on the role of translating these technical terms in different languages of India such as Hindi. He also encouraged the participants to get involved in this big task of Indian Govt. to enable proper transfer of knowledge.

Thereafter, the Chief Guest Hon’ble VC AUMP, Lt. Gen. V K Sharma Retd. (AVSM) addressed the participants. It was followed by the address of Er. M. L. Meena Joint Director and Bureau Chief, CSTT, MHRD. Mementos were presented to all the guests on the occasion.

Post tea break, two addresses were delivered by the guests on the role of technical terminologies in life of a common man. After lunch ten papers were presented orally by the participants (both outstation and locals). Fundamental glossaries on different topics of Physics, Chemistry, Electronics and Broadcast were also distributed to registered participants.

Three addresses were made on the beginning of day two of the national seminar prior to lunch. The first address was of Prof. (Dr.) S. P. Bajpai. Post lunch 10 more papers were presented using the glossary of technical terms. Participants made their presentations in Hindi

The two day seminar ended with the Valedictory Ceremony which began with the welcome of Chief Guest Lt. Gen. V. K. Sharma, AVSM (Retd.), Hon’ble Vice Chancellor AUMP and other guests from the Commission for Scientific and Technical Terminology viz. Er. M. L. Meena, Bureau chief, Shiv Kumar Chaudhari, Er. Jai Singh Rawat, Seminar-In-charge and Local Coordinator Dr. Sumit Narula, Director ASCo, AUMP. Bouquets were presented to all the keynote speakers Programme Chairs and Seminar-In-charge. The concluding remarks were given by both Seminar-In-charge Er. Jai Singh Rawat and Local Coordinator Dr. Sumit Narula, Director ASCO, AUMP.

In this seminar more than 35 papers were received from the various places of India, out of which 20 papers selected for presentation after peer review.

The Vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Nasir Khan, officiating HoD, ME Department, ASET, AUMP, Gwalior. In his address he thanked, on behalf of Amity School of Engineering and Technology, the Chief Guest of the day and Director ASET, Deans, Registrar, HOIs, HODs, faculty members and the supporting staff of AUMP, Gwalior, participants and students who attended this seminar, members of all committees, last but not the least members from print and electronic media.
