Visit of Delegates from University of Birmingham

Amity University Haryana welcomed Ms. Theresa Lynch, Lecturer, Director of Advocacy, Birmingham Law School from University of Birmingham, United Kingdom on 5th February 2018 along with other senior officials from the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom.

Dr.Gunjan M Sanjeev (Vice President RBEF and Director International Affairs) delivered the welcome speech and briefed the audience about the initiative taken by Amity University Gurugram to strengthen its international wings through collaborations, international campuses, study abroad opportunities and the diversity created by international students. Also she mentioned about internationalization in terms of academic processes and pedagogy being implemented at Amity University Gurugram. .

Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr) P.B. Sharma proudly talked about his association with University of Birmingham as an alumnus and he looked forward at great partnerships between the two Universities in coming times. He asked the students to introspect and to come forward with innovative and curious ideas on how to plug-in the gaps in current Indian judiciary system battling with numerous pending cases and policy lapses. He warmly welcomed the esteemed speaker.

Ms. Theresa Lynch delivered a special talk on, “Advocacy (Mooting) as a learning and teaching tool” for students and faculty at Amity Law School of Amity University Gurgaon. She discussed about Advocacy, persuasion and advocacy in court with the audience. She also touched upon the attributes required to be a good lawyer and advised the students to be thorough in their research and importance of confidence to be a successful lawyer. She also did a mock courtroom exercise with the students and gave them hands on experience on courtroom proceedings.
