National Work-Shop on Neuro Trauma Care

National Workshop on Neuri Trauma Care was organized on 13th February by Amity College of Nursing of Amity University Gurugram  to developed knowledge of the staff Nurses and students about the emergency nursing management of the patients with Neurotrauma in order to provide care to such patients in emergency areas under the guidance of  Dr. Harnarayan Singh chief surgeon & HOD Neuro and spine surgery, W Pratiksha Hospital, Gurgaon and Mrs. Sonia Chauhan, Senior Nursing officer and Trauma Nurse coordinator, GPN Apex Trauma Centre, AIIMS, New Delhi.

Welcome speech was delivered by Prof Praniti Barua, HOI Amity College of Nursing. She briefed the impact of trauma and the economic cost involved in treatment of such conditions especially head injuries. Hence, surveillance was needed and this has led to the main objective of the workshop for 155 Staff Nurses and Nursing Students from various institutes of Delhi and NCR to attain this workshop.

Dr. Harish Kumar Satia begins his session briefing about accidents and head injuries and the prevention of these injuries in our day to day life. He spoke in detail on the different head and spinal injuries and their management. He covered all the major aspects of neurotrauma ranging from scalp injuries to epidural, subdural haemorrhage and spinal cord injuries.

Ms Sonia Chauhan begin her session with initial nursing assessment in neurotrauma. She explained thoroughly regarding the initial assessment tools and methods of a neurotrauma patient and how to deal with such kind of patients as health personnel.

Ms. Amandeep Kaur, Assistant Professor, Amity College of Nursing explained in detail about the Glasgow Coma Scale and the assessment and scoring involved in the scale which is an important tool in determining the severity of a neurotrauma patient.

Prof Kiran Taneja Vice Principal, Amity College of Nursing delivered the vote of thanks and briefed that participants have learnt about emergency nursing management of patients with Neurotrauma in order to provide care to such patients in emergency areas.
