Inaugural talk of Ami-Astro-Club by Amity School of Applied Sciences

Astronomy is a fascinating subject. Students from science background and other disciplines are interested to know about mysteries of   world around us. Amity School of Applied Sciences, AUM has inaugurated a ‘Astronomy Club’. The inauguration was conducted on 17th August 2018. An eminent scientist in the field of astronomy and astrophysics Dr. Ankush Bhaskar, Heliophysics Division, NASA, U.S was invited. Around 230 students and faculties from different institutes participated in the event.

A guest talk was conducted where Dr. Ankush Bhaskar,(M.Sc., Ph.D, Jack Eddy Fellow, Heliophysics Science Division, NASA, U.S.). He was also a research Associate at Indian Institute of Geomagnetism 2015-17. He has completed his PhD from Indian Institute of Geomagnetism, Mumbai. He has 32 research papers in International peer reviewed journals. His research area includes working on geomagnetic storm predication, secondary cosmic rays and Forbush decreases also interested in climate change and trying to understand cosmic ray relationship with it.

The objectives of the club include educating the people about the scientific aspects and the physics/ science about the celestial events occurring in universe and also to develop scientific temperament among students. To create awareness among the students about Astronomy and Astrophysics. To create a common platform where students from different disciplines can learn/discus many unknown aspect of universe.

To provide students an opportunity to interact with Scientist associated with world’s leading organization in the field of Astrophysics and space science, NASA.
 
Astronomy Club are planning more such kind of talks from reputed personalities in the near future. The Club plans Sky gazing session for all AUM students so that they can see closer view of celestial objects.
