Delegation visit of University of Alabama

In order to paving the path for enhancing Internationalization by Office of International Affairs, Amity University Gurugram had been welcomed eminent professors Dr. Andrew Goodliffe, Associate Dean for Graduate School; Department of Geological Sciences and Dr. Subhabrata Chakraborti, Professor of Statistics, Culverhouse College of Business from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, Alabama, USA and Robert C. & Rosa P. Morrow Faculty Excellence Fellow; Fellow, American Statistical Association; Elected Member, International Statistical Institute; and Fulbright Sr. Scholar to South Africa. on 21st September, 2018.  

Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr) P.B. Sharma along with Vice President – RBEF and Director International Affairs, Dr. Gunjan M Sanjeev welcomed the delegation with a floral welcome and presented Amity Memento to all the delegates. The delegation was focused on exploring mutual areas of interest for developing ties in joint projects, research, faculty exchange and cultural emission.

Vice President – RBEF and Director International Affairs, Dr. Gunjan M Sanjeev introduced and briefed about the Alabama achievements and then briefed about Amity Group with the help of video. Dr. Gunjan shared the importance of global outreach and environment consciousness which brings all together from different continents.

The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor welcomed the guest and briefed all delegates about the need to create a world working for common cause. He emphasized the need to build up international community due to advancement of engineering and integration of technology. He had also suggested how in some sectors such as Agriculture, Biomedical, engineering and other allied fields can be enhanced by working on joint projects or proposals for both universities.

Dr. Madhukar form Amity Business School elaborated how data analytics is good program in business management and can be initiated as online program. Amity University Haryana offers 3 programs in data analytics. This is area of wide relevance and it was suggested that expert lectures and joint research programs can be initiated. Banking and finance is another area.

Dr. Kushagra from Earth and Environmental Sciences, explained how India is a museum due to its different geographical conditions all across and Air, Water , Biological biodiversity is the area for meaningful research. He also shared that Amity University Haryana also offers B.Sc earth sciences and scope is wider for future research projects with cultural immersion programs combined with working on some common research area.

Dr. Alok Srivastava from Amity Institute of Biotechnology elaborated how Data Sciences is the upcoming area and quite an interesting area for research and joint collaborations. He shared possibility of exploration of application based teaching, which includes case studies and work on major research area such as Breast Cancer.
