Amity University Madhya Pradesh Celebrates “World Environment Day” on 05th June, 2018

Amity University Madhya Pradesh celebrated the World Environment Day (WED) on June 05, 2018 by organizing a plantation programme in the campus. The theme of this year’s celebration was ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’.

The programme started with the address of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, AUMP, Lt Gen V K Sharma, AVSM (Retd.). He spoke of rising temperatures, increasing plastic pollution and green house effect. He also laid emphasis on ban of use of "Single Use Plastics" (plastic plates, glasses, bottles, polythene bags etc) and banned these items in Amity University Gwalior campus. He also suggested that everyone must do physical exercise and expose themselves to the elements of the environment outside the air-conditioned rooms for some time every day. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor also spoke about the importance of sustainable development in the interest of future generations.

The HOI EVS and Dean Research Prof. S. P. Bajpai spoke about the starting of the celebration of World Environment Day in 1972. He also spoke of and effect of plastic pollution and ten importances of trees for environment conservation. He encouraged faculty members to plant trees and to spread awareness among others about the same.

After the encouraging address of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor and Dean Research the plantation programme started. All the dignitaries, faculty members along with non teaching staff participated in the event with full enthusiasm. The programme ended with the vote of thanks by Prof. S. P. Bajpai.
