one day symposium on “Scientific Writing and Plagiarism”

A one day symposium on“Scientific Writing and Plagiarism” was organized by Amity Institute of Pharmacy, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow Campus on 29th August, 2017. It was an initiative to commemorate the 10 years of journey of AIP towards excellence in imparting education in Pharmaceutical Sciences. The symposium aimed at fostering interaction of students and faculty with the best minds to enhance awareness about scientific misconduct, plagiarism and improve their scientific writing skill.

The symposium was inaugurated by lighting of lamp by dignitaries followed by a welcome address by Prof. (Dr.) Suneela Dhaneshwar, Director Amity Institute of Pharmacy and Deputy Dean of Research. She laid emphasis on the original thinking and expression of thoughts in own words to avoid temptation of copy- pasting, plagiarism and scientific misconduct.

Dr. Qamar Rehman, Dean Research (S & T) AUUP Lucknow Campus expressed her views on importance of ethical writing practices.

Dr. Rao V. S.V Vadlamudi; President Indian Pharmaceutical Association and Commonwealth Pharmacists Associations, Former Editor Indian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences the most renowned and oldest journal of high repute in India and Director, St. Peters Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Warangal delivered a keynote address. He shared his vast editorial experience and discussed the ethical guidelines for scientific writing and implications of plagiarism and measures to avoid the same.

Dr. Sanjay Pai; Professor and HOD of Pharmaceutical Chemistry & Analysis, Goa College of Pharmacy, former Editor Indian Journal of Pharmaceutical Education & Research carried the voyage of enriching intellect on strategies for writing a research paper and publishing it in a high impact factor journal.

The second round of technical session started with poster presentations by budding researchers followed by a successful demonstration of use of plagiarism software tool available to detect plagiarism by Dr. Mohini Chaurasia.

The symposium received an overwhelming response with more than 320 delegates from academia and research institutes in and around Lucknow. The symposium achieved its objective in igniting the young vibrant minds for efficient, plagiarism- free scientific writing.

The symposium concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Sajal Srivastava Dy. Director Amity Institute of Pharmacy. The symposium was successfully coordinated by Dr. Mohini Chaurasia, Mr. Prakash Deep and a team of faculty and students of Amity Institute of Pharmacy.
