The need for Corporate Social Responsibility is increasingly being felt all over the world. All countries face vast range of problems. The Government can not be expected to look into all the aspects of development. Not only governments but even large corporations need help in discharging their social responsibility. It is here that Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) have a role to play and supplement efforts of the Governments and the Corporate World. Many issues like Whether Humanitarian, Developmental or Social, require specialized handling. NGOs will have to come forward to attend to these areas.
Viewing these developments, AMITY has introduced a one-year Post Graduate Diploma in NGO Management. The focus of the programme is to create well-trained professionals to manage and lead NGOs according to the requirement of UN agencies like UNDP, UNFPA, UNICEF, UNESCO, World Bank, WFP, FAO and International NGOs (Action-Aid, OXFAM, Save the Children Fund, Amnesty International) and Developmental organizations.
The program’s covers a wide range of conceptual, contextual and policy issues and ideas. These include the changing policy contexts in which NGOs operate, the complexities of accountability, organizational growth and change, the ethical dimensions of NGO work, the links between human rights (civil, political, and economic) and development.
NGOs are already handling large projects involving Crores of rupees. Management of such organization can not be left in the hands of amateurs only.
Students will gain functional knowledge of the administrative, financial and organizational aspects of such organizations. Course will focus on managerial challenges that are faced by these organizations in dealing with local governments as well as other organizations and to use the resources for the benefit of the target groups. It is with this objective in view that Amity has taken a pioneering step in setting up a specialized institution for management of NGOs.
