Amity University Raipur organized a 3-day Orientation Program, held from August 1st through August 3rd, to induct the new students into the campus by familiarizing them with the culture, pedagogy of the university, and the facilities available. Day 1 of the orientation began with insightful addresses by Dr. VK Singh Dahima, Head of Campus, and Dr. Sumita Dave, Dean Academics.

Drawing from his decades of corporate and academic experience, and weaving in this his personal experience, Dr Dahima gave out his key learnings to the freshers, who will be joining their select programs from the 39 programs available on campus. The Head of Campus also asked the students to be true to themselves and not allowing others’ opinion to define their calibre, decide their goals and pursue them.

Dr Dahima urged them to stay happy, notwithstanding academic results and peer pressure. Making friends, cherishing and nurturing their friendship is another important aspect of leading happy and successful lives, added Dr Dahima. He underscored the vital role played by parents in shaping the children and making them what they are today.

The Dean Academics familiarized the new students with the credit system of evaluation, course structures, Amizone, which is an intranet portal for the university, among other academic and extracurricular details. Notably, Amizone is the first intranet portal developed by any private university for keeping both parents and students informed about ongoings in the campus. Dr Dave took the students through all the aspects, academic and non-academic, of the campus.

Next day, following the tradition of the University, a Havan was performed wherein all new students and entire campus took part, followed up by Talent Hunt for the freshers to showcase their talents in areas of their interest. On the day, Dr. Surajit C Mukhopadhyay, Registrar Raipur Campus, in his capacity as Dean of Students Welfare, addressed the students. The Orientation culminated on August 3rd with Introduction from Head of Institutions, Faculty members and an Ice Breaking session for the new joinees. During the entire ceremony, all Head of Institutions, Faculties and Admin staff made their presence.
