Inter Departmental Quiz Competition

An Inter-departmental Quiz competition was planned for the all the students of AUJ, Ranchi on 31st October commemorating the iron man of India Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel and to celebrate “Rastriya Ekta Diwas”. The topic for the quiz was life sketch of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel and history, geography, politics and culture of Goa.The quiz was open for participants from all UG and PG programs. It’s really admirable that many teams showed their interest in participation and forwarded their names, out of which 16 teams from different departments of management, humanities and sciences were selected for the qualifiers. A written test was taken to finally bring the best four teams for the final battle.

The Quiz began with the welcome of chief guest for the evening Dr. Sanjeev Chaturvedi, deputy director, technical and higher education, Jharkhand government. Then Dr. Ajit Kumar Pandey, Director AUJ,  gave an insight of the life lessons to be learnt from  Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, the chief guest Dr. Sanjeev Chaturvedi occupied the podium next and praised AUJ for such initiatives and counted the university as a milestone in the field of higher and technical education in Jharkhand. After his motivating speech the hall roared with claps. Dr. Raman Kumar Jha, Honorable vice chancellor AUJ, wishes good luck to the participants and announced the start of the thrilling final round among the final four qualifiers with four participants in each group. The final four teams were BA- English(Sem-III), B.Tech CSE (Sem-III), MBA (Sem-III), B.tech Biotech (sem-III). Prof. Julie vardhan took the charge and started with the introduction of the quizmaster and contestants from each team. The rules of the quiz competition were announced. Prof. Sidharth Raja Haldar conducted the quiz in a very interactive way and the teams participated with great enthusiasm. They skillfully answered the questions asked. Though some of the questions were very tricky, the teams tried to answer them with confidence. The questions put forth to the teams were intriguing, exciting and made the audiences go ‘Aah!’ and clap when the teams answered correctly. The audience also got a chance to participate every time the teams answered incorrectly. first two round was a mixed bag with questions from the life of iron man Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel while the final two rounds, were from Goa . The competition ensured that the teams minutely read every detail about the given topics.

A range of emotions were felt in the seminar hall – happiness, sadness, regret and excitement. Everyone waited with baited breath for the announcement of the final scores. BA English grabbed the first place which had Akanksha Rakesh, Shaili Jonko, Pragati Kumari and Sweta Suresh with 60 points in bag, followed closely with 50 points were the btech. CSE who stood second. Everyone clapped and cheered for the ecstatic winning teams.


The Assembly concluded with the certificate of merit distribution to the winners. Program co-coordinator Prof. Amit Chaturvedi wished luck to the students and thanked the eminent guests and other faculty members present in the program.
