BACKGROUND

The Amity Law School, Amity University, Noida had organized the 1st International Conference on Comparative Constitutional Law in February, 2019 with the Adelaide Law School, University of Adelaide, Australia as the co-host. The specific theme of the conference was “Comparing and Contrasting the Constitutional Models of India and Australia”. The conference witnessed key note speeches from learned Vice-Chancellors from several NLUs alongwith the Director of Indian Law Institute, New Delhi as well as by the senior academicians and research scholars from four Australian Universities from namely the Adelaide Law School, University of Adelaide; RMIT University, Melbourne; Edith Cowan University, Perth and; University of Brisbane. The conference concluded with the most elite panel comprising of Hon’ble Mr. Justice Deepak Gupta (Former CJI, Supreme Court of India), Hon’ble Mr. Justice Chandra Shekhar (Judge, Delhi High Court) and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Prateek Jalan (Judge, Delhi High Court) besides Senior Advocates, Supreme Court of India, Ms. Geeta Luthra and Mr. Prashanto Chandra Sen, an alumni from Oxford University, UK.

The conference aims to bring together Law Practitioners, Researchers, Academicians and Students to deliberate and critically analyse the major contemporary developments in the field of Constitutional law in comparative perspective. The Conference aims at academic discourse through the following modes:

  • Role of Constitutional Duties in nation building
  • Role of Judiciary in promoting constitutionalism
  • Regulation of Social Media in Constitutional Governance

GUIDELINES FOR PAPER SUBMISSION

  • Well researched papers, articles and case studies are invited from students, scholars/ researchers, faculties, bar and bench and other professionals.
  • All papers MUST be written in comparative manner. Each paper should compare at least two jurisdictions (with focus on India or Australia).
  • Co-authorship upto two authors is permitted. Each co-author would be required to pay the registration fees.
  • Each applicant must submit a 500 word abstract providing an overview of the proposed paper by e-mail to icccl2020@gmail.com as well as fill up the Google Docs Registration Form latest by 22nd December, 2019
  • The organizing committee will notify each applicant of whether his or her abstract has been accepted by 28th December, 2019.  Decisions of the organizing committee to accept papers for presentation at the conference shall be final.
  • Applicants selected by the organizing committee must register and make payment through the Payment Portal latest by 5th January, 2020.
  • Applicants selected by the organizing committee to participate in the conference must email their complete paper by 20th February, 2020 at icccl2020@gmail.com.
  • Each paper must be between 7500 and 10000 words and include headings and properly formatted footnote citations (end notes are not permissible). Papers must be in MS Word format with Times New Roman font on an A4 size paper and 1” margin on all sides, font size 12 and line spacing of 1.5.
  • 20th Edition of The Bluebook:  Uniform system of Citation must be used for referencing.
  • The sub-themes provided are merely indicative and not exhaustive. Participants are free to choose any topic of their choice relevant to the central theme of the conference.
  • Research papers/articles submitted should be accompanied with a declaration by the author(s), stating that the contents of the research paper have not been published elsewhere.
  • All papers shall be strictly subjected to anti-plagiarism software and shall be scrutinised through blind review of the Editorial board.
  • Attendees must attend the conference on both days to receive a participation certificate, which will be presented only at the conclusion of the conference.
