United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC)

Attaining a sustainable resolution for the Gaza Strip after conflict is a complex task that requires careful and diligent consideration of multiple factors to guarantee long-term peace and stability. The viability of pact depends on a combination of diplomatic, humanitarian, and socio-political efforts. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict has seen persistent tension fuelled by historical events, geopolitical complexities, and longstanding grudges for seventy-five years, with clashes and violence reaching new heights with more and more Palestinian and Israeli casualties being recorded this year. Acute human rights violations and apparent acts of warfare transpired during the conflicts. This includes Israeli airstrikes that resulted in the deaths of numerous civilians and the destruction of four high-rise buildings in Gaza, which housed both residences and businesses. Notably, these strikes lacked evident military targets in their proximity and indiscriminate rocket attacks were carried out by Hamas and other Palestinian armed groups, targeting Israeli cities. The obeying of international legal frameworks and resolutions, coupled with regional stability and cooperation from neighbouring countries, contributes significantly to the resolution's viability. The gradual implementation of agreements, monitored by international bodies, allows for adjustments and corrections, ensuring compliance and addressing emerging challenges. International mediation plays a pivotal role, necessitating the involvement of neutral parties and the support of the global community. A commitment to a two-state solution, addressing borders, Jerusalem's status, and the refugee issue, remains central. Powerful security measures, disarmament initiatives, and trust-building mechanisms are vitally important to foster stability and confidence between Israel and Palestine. Balancing the pursuit of peace through international agreements raises the dilemma of whether it's a genuine resolution or just a temporary truce, leaving the fate of global harmony uncertain for the generations yet to come. Come and join us for an incredible and thrilling experience at AMIMUN'24! The dates of the conferences are 19th, 20th and 21st January, 2024.
