Master of Visual Arts MVA (Screen Arts)

Duration: 4 semesters (2 years)

This Program is aimed at more mature students who already have a Bachelor’s Degree and are committed to joining the Media and Entertainment industry. With that in mind, this Program prepares Professionals who can lead teams in the Filmmaking process. The First Semester is a Foundation Course which introduces each student (irrespective of their area of learning in their Bachelor’s Program) in all areas of Filmmaking. At the end of this Foundation, students are advised to pursue one of the following areas of Specialization via Elective Courses:

Producing | Cinematography | Editing and VFX | Sound Design

For the rest of the Program – the last three Semesters – students hone skills in these areas to Specialize. On graduation, students will be equipped to lead teams in their area of Specialization.

*Today, Visual Storytelling (Cinema / TV) is not limited to only Film and Television. In fact, the Covid Pandemic has given a huge boost to OTT (Over the Top) platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney Hotstar etc. Consumers do not consume their entertainment only in movie theater screens or the television screen. More and more the Screen has expanded to include Screens of all types – Film Theaters, TV, Computer Screens and even the Mobile Phone Screens. Thus, the change in nomenclature from Film & Television Production to Screen Arts.

This Program, while retaining all the inputs of the earlier MA (Film & Television Production) Program, adds inputs in OTT, Digital Cinema, Online Distribution etc.
