In specialization modules, students develop professional skills in their chosen field of specialization through lectures, practical sessions and workshops conducted by in-house faculty, visiting faculty and industry professionals. Students showcase their conceptual and technical skills in their respective fields of specialization, by teaming up with students of other specialization and working as members of a creative team. As per NEP ,various electives are offered by the departments providing students an opportunity to experiment with areas of filmmaking other than their chosen Specializations. While each department is responsible for running the course of their own specialization, students also work together to impart an integrated and multidimensional learning experience. Acting Course Description:

These courses serve as an immersive exploration into the fundamentals of acting, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of the art and craft of performing. Whether you are an aspiring actor or someone seeking to enhance communication and presentation skills, this course offers a dynamic and engaging platform for personal and artistic development.

Fundamental Acting Techniques

Explore and practice foundational acting techniques, including but not limited to voice modulation, body language, character development, and improvisation.

Script Analysis

Learn the art of script analysis, understanding the nuances of character motivations, conflicts, and relationships. Develop the skills to bring scripts to life authentically.

Emotional Range and Expression

Delve into the exploration of emotions and learn how to convey a wide range of feelings convincingly. Develop tools to access and express emotions in a controlled and authentic manner.

Stage Presence

Understand the importance of stage presence and how to captivate an audience. Develop confidence in movement and blocking while maintaining a strong connection with fellow performers.

Scene Work

Engage in practical scene work, collaborating with peers to apply learned techniques in various dramatic scenarios. Receive constructive feedback to enhance performance skills.

Emphasis on the importance of collaboration and ensemble work. Understand the dynamics of working with a cast and crew to create a cohesive and compelling performance.

Introduction to Different Acting Styles

Explore various acting styles, from classical to contemporary, and understand the unique demands and characteristics of each. Develop versatility as an actor.

Industry Insights

Gain insights into the entertainment industry, including the audition process, working with directors, and understanding the expectations of different mediums (stage, screen, etc).

Evaluation

Assessment will be based on class participation, scene performances, individual monologues, and a final project that showcases the integration of learned skills. Constructive feedback from both instructors and peers will be an integral part of the learning process. By the end of the course, students should feel more confident and skilled in their ability to approach and execute various acting challenges.

In acting, the traditional format of “placement “ does not work If you qualify an audition, you will be cast in a serial/movie. Our 3 years UG training will give you enough confidence to qualify an audition, & this is what we guarantee.

We help our acting students in 8 ways to find work in the industry 

• Theatre Training: Our 10-15 days production oriented workshop prepares you for acting on stage . Most of them are NSD ‘National School of Drama’ Graduates who come as guest faculty. Students after passing out can join their groups to begin their career.
• Screen Acting Training: We focus and specialize in training our students for Films and TV, which means students will learn how to face the camera as a special subject.
• Special Training: To qualify an audition, a mock audition test will be conducted. Sound studio & dubbing exercises will be taught to equip them for the film industry.
• Complimentary Video Portfolio: Various theatrical productions exercises are shot with a 2 camera set up, which are given as a portfolio after editing.
• Complimentary Still Portfolio: Our Cinematography students shoot at indoor and outdoor locations. They will give acting students 20 different poses with a variety of costumes and backgrounds, which normally costs at least 20-30K in the market.
• Opportunity to Act in Short Films: Acting students will get an opportunity to work in ‘Diploma films’ of Direction students, if they match the character.
• Database in excel file consisting of 300 contact details (updated mobile number and email addresses) of Mumbai-based Filmmakers will be given while passing out.
• Audition Support:After graduating successfully, you are not abandoned. Students become a part of ASFD extended family of our Ex-students Alumni Group via WhatsApp and Facebook groups, where you constantly keep getting support about auditions in Mumbai.

No of Seats: 20 seats to be filled on an interview basis for Indian students.

Qualification :   Graduation in any Discipline. Candidates appearing for the final year of Bachelor's degree and awaiting results, can also apply .However, such candidates, if selected, are allowed to join the programme, only if they submit a passing certificate/ mark sheet issued from competent authority of their institution / university

Selection Criteria : Selection is done on the basis of an interview. Students who are based in Delhi & NCR will have to come personally for the interview in Noida Campus. For outstation candidates, the interview will be held in online mode via Zoom / Microsoft Team.

Results are declared within 10 days after the interview. Selected candidates have to submit the fee within 15 days from the date of declaration of the result.

How to Prepare for the Interview : The intention of the interview board is to see whether the student is really passionate about the field of study he/she has applied for. For example ,The interview board would like to see your interest in basic photography/painting. Who are your favourite cinematographer and what you like about his work.

Course Fee: Students need to pay a fee per semester. The fee per semester of 6 months is (Rs. in Lacs) 0.850/- per semester
