A Community Awareness Program on the occasion of World AIDS Day organized by AMS.

Department of Public Health and Department of Dietetics & Applied Nutrition at Amity Medical School, Amity University Gurugram organized a Community Awareness Program and Nutritional Education event. The program was been held on the occasion of World AIDS Day, in Gwalior Village Panchgaon, Gurugram, on 1st December, 2023.

The main objectives of the program were to create awareness about HIV transmission, prevention methods, and to reduce stigma associated with AIDS. The event involved students from Masters in Public Health and Dietetics and Applied Nutrition who were divided into groups, each covering ten houses to disseminate information through pamphlets. The program aimed to increase awareness, leading to early detection, better support for those affected, and a more compassionate and informed society. The speakers addressed the community, emphasizing the causes, symptoms, and nutritional management to prevent AIDS. The distribution of pamphlets by student groups contributed to the success of the community awareness program. A total of 17 students and 3 faculty members participated in the event.

In conclusion, the event proved effective in reducing stigma, encouraging preventive measures, and empowering individuals with knowledge about HIV/AIDS. The initiative fostered a supportive and informed community in the fight against AIDS.
