The Amity Institute of Clinical Psychology, Amity University Gurugram organized a one-day program on World Disability Day, held on December 4, 2023, at the Earth Saviour Foundation in Bandhwari, Gurugram The program covered an overview of various disabilities in society, including physical, blindness, deafness, and mental illness.

The session emphasized that disability in one modality does not imply disability in all aspects. Discussions included the rights and benefits available to the disabled population, coping strategies employed by individuals facing disabilities, along with role-playing and poster presentations by students to enhance understanding. Additionally, the program addressed strategies for early identification and prevention of disability issues in the community, considering the current situation from a social psychological perspective. A total of 15 students and 7 faculty members participated in the event.

In conclusion, the program demonstrated knowledge about preventive measures such as sensitization and psychoeducation, highlighting the practical and service-oriented aspects in the community. The event successfully raised awareness, promoted understanding, and underscored the importance of practical interventions for the well-being of individuals with disabilities in society.
