The Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry and Forensic Sciences at Amity School of Applied Sciences, Amity University Gurugram organized an educational visit to Civil Hospital Mortuary, Gurugram on 24^th November, 2023. The primary intent of the program was to demonstrate knowledge about Postmortem Examination.

The event commenced with an introduction to the participating doctors and an overview of the prima facie aspects of corpses. Students were given a demonstration of the examination of deceased bodies, focusing on determining the cause of death. The process involved making Y-shaped and I-shaped incisions, providing access to the viscera. Viscera samples were collected for further analysis, particularly in cases of poisoning, suicides, and to maintain the custodial chain, aiding in establishing the modus operandi of violent acts. A total of 21 students and 2 faculty members participated in the event.

In conclusion, the visit to Civil Hospital Mortuary provided students with practical insights into forensic examination techniques and the diverse scenarios encountered in postmortem examinations. The event involved the examination of seven cases through postmortem procedures. Among these cases, some were related to suicidal hanging, while others involved traumatic brain injuries resulting from road traffic accidents.
