The annual sporting event, Amity Golf Tournament, is one of the key initiatives by Amity Education Group that brings together corporate honchos, experienced bureaucrats, seasoned politicians, senior government officials, eminent scientists and high-ranking diplomats. This convergence is an excellent platform for networking and exchanging thoughts on various issues with some of the brightest minds in the industry as well as reinforcing the importance of health and wellness. This edition of the Amity Golf Tournament in 2019, takes forward the Amity legacy of striving for world-class sporting excellence in India, through National and International level sports initiatives.

The annual sports saga is a confluence of golfing pro as well as leading figures in science, technology, business, academics and government. Amity Golf Tournament offers participants the time and space to have meaningful conversations about shared interests that lead to great ideas, plans, concepts and initiatives. The event believes in forging strong relationships based upon a sense of camaraderie, personal relationship, friendship and fun. Considering valuable time and space of the participants and their families, the Golf Tournament invites spouses of participants to enjoy and have a gala time on the greens, hence add a personal tinge to the sports event. Amity Golf Tournament is played in the Stableford format with teams of four golfers. The first edition of golf tournament was organized in Jaipur, while the second & third edition was conducted at Delhi Golf Club, where picture perfect greens make up a delightful 18-hole golf course. Amity Golf Tournament 2018 was a splendid event that witnessed participation from who’s who in the industry, government circle, diplomatic circuit, scientific community, academic pool and so on. The 2018 edition saw eminent personalities and stalwarts from different walks of life converging for a keenly contested and vibrant game of golf. Some of the luminaries present on the occasion were His Excellency Dato’ Hidayat A. Hamid; His Excellency Peter Ljubicic; His Excellency Nor’azam Mohd Idrus; Justice C M Nayyar; and Captain Gypsy Chowdhury amongst others.

The winner of 2018 edition was Mr. Joydeep Nayyar, while Ms. Anuva Saurabh was the winner of the Ladies Tournament. In the handicap categories the winners were Mr. Pawan Saluja and Mr. Anand Chintamani. The event was thoroughly enjoyed by hundreds of golf lovers, who also cheered for their favorite golfer. The day was etched in the memory of one and all.

The participants acknowledged the commendable efforts of the organizers to make it a memorable sports and networking event for everyone. They bid adieu to others with a promise to meet in the next edition of Amity Golf Tournament.

Several achievements of alumni, who graduated from Amity University such as Ronjan Sodhi (double trap shooter); Parimarjan Negi, Chess Grandmaster; and Vidur Agarwal, member of the Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2010 Swimming Contingent and many others are the manifestation of the university’s commitment towards development through sports.

Amity University was the Official University Partner of 2016 Indian Olympic contingents and Official Trainer for Volunteers during XIX CWG 2010. As many as 30,000 volunteers and 2,000 students were trained. These volunteers, who were the “Face of the Games”, were thoroughly trained in each and every aspect of the CWG and its operations. More than 310 students of Amity University also volunteered during the Test Events which preceded CWG 2010. About 70 students from Amity Institute of Physiotherapy and Amity Institute of Forensic Sciences were chosen and trained to act as Dope Control Officials during CWG. The trained volunteers contributed in as many as 22 Functional Areas of Organizing Committee such as Security, Media, Spectator Services, Sports, Operations, Accreditation and so on. Armed with a robust experience of working with Organizing Committee of CWG, these volunteers are making optimum use of their skill set, setting examples as a role model and contributing to the nation’s growth.
