Net Zero Vision for Universities: Role of Higher Education Institutions"

 

 

The primary aim of the Five-Day Faculty Development Program titled “Net Zero Vision for Universities: Role of Higher Education Institutions”, organized by Amity University Haryana in collaboration with the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) – IGBC Student Chapter from 8th – 12th December 2025 , was to strengthen institutional awareness and faculty capacity in sustainability, green campus development, and climate-responsive planning.

The objectives of the programme were further strengthened through the valuable contributions of eminent experts and academic leaders, including Shri Vasudevan Suresh, Chairman, IGBC – Policy & Advocacy Committee and Former CMD, HUDCO; Mr. Sanjay K. Varshney, Chairperson, IGBC Delhi Chapter; Ar. Jit Kumar Gupta, Co-Chairman, IGBC Green Hill Habitat Rating System and Former Advisor, PUDA; and several IGBC counsellors and industry professionals such as Mr. Yasin Khan, Mr. Sivagurunathan S, Ms. Anisha Joshi, Ms. Manisha Shetty, Ms. Ayesha Syeda, Ms. Ashwini Dokka, and Mr. Anand Kumar. Academic leadership and institutional perspectives were provided by Prof. (Dr.) Sanjna Vij, Prof. (Dr.) Ila Gupta, Prof. (Dr.) Vikas Madhukar, Prof. (Dr.) P. B. Sharma, and Dr. Ravi Manuja.

The programme aimed to enhance faculty understanding of Net Zero concepts, renewable energy integration, water and waste management, low-carbon materials, and sustainability-led policy planning. Overall, the FDP aimed to create a strong foundation for sustainable campus initiatives, encourage academia–industry collaboration through IGBC, and enable faculty to lead actionable, climate-conscious strategies that contribute meaningfully to national and global sustainability goals.
