Panel Discussion on Reimagining Academic Pedagogy after NEP-Problems and Solutions by Amity University Gurugram

 

Amity Academic Leadership Forum For K-12 Schools India, Amity University Gurugram Organized Panel Discussion on Reimagining Academic Pedagogy after NEP-Problems and Solutions on 24th November 2021. Total 147 students, teachers and parents attended the panel discussion from 7 school are CCA School, Gurgaon, Venkateshwar International School, Dwarka,Eicher School, Faridanad, Army Public School, Delhi, Gurukul School, Ghaziabad, DMPS, Modi Nagar, DAV NIT, Faridabad. 

Mr. Sachin Juneja , Director, Market Promotions moderated the session and discuss major key points Reimagining Academic Pedagogy after NEP-Problems and Solutions on with all the panelists.  

Ms. Nirmal Yadav, Founder Principal , CCA School, Gurugram had an inspiring view mentioning,and specified that teacher has all the power to change the child with love. Teachers hold the responsibility of students to counsel them, making them confident and providing hand-holding.   Asking her view on what difference NEP will make, she mentioned that the NEP policy is not only for metropolitan cities but for schools in rural areas too, which needs teamwork and leadership skills. Teachers are the implementors.  

Ms. Manisha Sharma, Principal , Venkateshwar International School, Dwarka summarized her views on the NEP mentioning that NEP remarks quality education, after 40 years, a lot of focus has been brought on critical thinking and quality thinking, and there is so much to do as true India is not only in a metropolitan city. Leaders has to come in front.  

She mentioned that how vocational studies are playing a great role in learners' life, she also mentioned that every child has a different ability and that has to be nourished and nurtured.  

She resumed her thoughts by sharing the creativity and experiments done by her school students and inspired us by telling that how she enjoys her work being a kathak dancer.   

Mr. Gaurav Bedi , Principal, Gurukul- The School, Ghaziabad  discussed on Assessment Pattern in NEP .NEP is talking lot about various method of Assessment, Now any student can pursue any subjects of other streams along with his/her core stream. Now, They integrated the entire stream, Which is a great initiative. He gave a thinking note that why assessment are need to be the part if we want our students to adapt something seriously. He emphasized on teachers' training as well.  

He also give his words of wisdom on Rural Education & Solutions If you look data in 2018 of India, There were 449 Million mobile phone users & Now 850 Million but within 2 years its double, India responds very fast & Great. There is a lot that needs to be done in the rural area in terms of technology. 

Ms. Gurmeet Gupta , Vice Principal, DMPS, Modi Nagar  

She explicitly explained that NEP is the policy not the syllabus. Every student is now for every stream syllabus for the betterment of Child. If we have not let children be free for new ideas, how can students feel experiential learning? To create something new we have to remain acquaint  for new technology. What we are creating right now needs to be improvised.

There are all types of students in the classes, Mostly, It is a discussion about toppers and low graders, What is the average student who is ignored most of time. She pushed the thought process of the audience to to make make students good human beings instead of 90%ion students 

Ms. Jyoti Dahiya, Prinicpal, DAV Public School, NIT, Faridabad 

She mentioned that NEP is a beautiful policy in change. We need to imbibe all the changes mentioned in that document. If we want to make it success jointly parent , teachers and students has to flexible in all terms. 

She also discussed that there cannot be boundaries in selecting streams and subjects for students, students should be flexible in learning in balance which will bring a better learning experience. The main aim of this policy is to make competency based learning for all the students, She added 

Ms Malini Narayanan, Princiapal, Army Public School, Shankar Vihar, Delhi 

According to her, NEP will eradicate inequality in learning. For implementation, Schools will have to take simple steps by sharing personal repo with students, parents etc. This pandemic time has closed the distances with children and parents which needs to improvise with immediate effect to bridge the gap in learning outcomes.  She cited an example of her school of doing grief counseling to students during pandemic and many such activities. All these steps will assure perfect implementation of NEP and related outcomes. 

For Experiential learning at APS they send students directly to work with banks, hospitals, community services etc. Interactive simulations for Army experience, field experience etc. They work on 4 steps of experiential learning by David Cole, She added. 

Ms Arpita Chakraborty, Eicher School, Faridabad 

On Social Emotional Learning, According to her COVID has opened eyes of all teachers and all stake holders and taught everyone to keep their minds open. They made parents a part of learning program during pandemic, all teaching cultures were integrated. She also mentioned that NEP is a great piece of document of document but to implement it we have to keep our eyes open, most important part should be child centric approach while implementing NEP.
