GUEST LECTURE ON “THE MAGIC OF COSTING- HEART OF BUSINESS” ORGANIZED BY AMITY INSTITUTE OF DESIGN
Amity Institute of Design hosted a guest lecture for all Fashion Design III, V, and VII Semester students on November 28th, 2022 at A Block Conference Room, AUH. Mr. Rajiv Pande (Business Head, Ginni Filaments ltd.) was asked as the guest speakr to offer a talk on "The Magic of costing- Heart of Business.
This lecture discussed all of the garment costing strategies and topics that students should be familiar with in the fashion business. He described the components influencing garment pricing, fabric consumption computation, fabric costing, and garment costing. This essential information enables the buyer, designer, merchandiser, or marketing people to assess cost based on a given drawing or sample, as well as evaluate the viability of a design collection.
Following the Workshop, the students were able to comprehend numerous elements influencing fabric pricing as well as learn industrial mathematical procedures for calculating fabric usage. They also learned how to identify trim/accessories that impact garment price, such as embroidery, printing, and wet processing, as well as how to determine the overall cost of the garment and analyse and offer solutions to lower garment expenses.
