event

Dr Vandana Ghormade Scientist D, Centre for Nanobiosciences, Agharkar Research Institute, Pune giving session on Nanotechnologies in detection and treatment of human pathogenic fungus

Amity Institute of Biotechnology organized an expert talk on “Nanotechnologies in detection and treatment of human pathogenic fungus” by Dr Vandana Ghormade Scientist D, Centre for Nanobiosciences, Agharkar Research Institute, Pune on 22nd April, 2019 at its campus. The expert talk was organized by the Amity Institute of Biotechnology Amity Institute Of Integrative Sciences & Health and attended by the students and the faculty.

Dr Vandana has expertise in Nanotechnology, Fungal Biology and Biotechnology and Molecular Biology. She has 40 publications in the field of nanoscience and biotechnology. In her talk Dr Vandana said, “Early detection and timely treatment can combat the high mortalities caused by human fungal pathogens such as Candida and Aspergillus among immunocompromised patients.”

“Nanotechnology strategies for drug delivery improves the bioavailability, solubility, efficacy and reduces the toxicity. Natural and synthetic polymeric nanoparticles were synthesized for improved fluconazole and amphotericinB delivery”, Dr Ghormade added.
