Amity Institute of Biotechnology organized a guest lecture on “Overcoming Drug Resistance in Candida Albicans” at Amity UniversityGurugram campus on 14th June 2019. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Dibyendu Banerjee, Senior Scientist, CSIR-CDRI and was attended by Phd scholars and faculty of AIB. The main aim of the lecture was to make students and faculties aware about the fungal infections and strategies to counter the same.

Dr Banerjee in his lecture said, “Candida albicans is a serious pathogen in India accounting for significant mortality and morbidity”.

Dr Banerjee also highlighted his group's recent findings where they have found novel inhibitors from the zinc library which can target a transcription factor responsible for overexpression of drug transporters responsible for antifungal resistance.

The talk was of wide interest because the study used a blend of computational biology based approaches such as molecular docking and biochemical and molecular biology experiments.
