Seminar Series on Base Metal Complexes of Neutral PN3P Pincer Ligand for Clean Energy

Amity School of Applied Sciences organized seminar on Base Metal Complexes of Neutral PN3P Pincer Ligand for Clean Energy on 7th April 2021.

The Objectives of the seminar was to understand about how base metal complexes of neutral “PN3P” Pincer ligands help for clean energy and how with the help of designing new ligands can change the geometry and its effect on potential.

Dr Gyaneshwar Kumar Rao, Assistant Professor, Amity School of Applied Sciences, Amity University Haryana explains about the Base metal complexes of neutral “PN3P” Pincer ligands for clean energy. Students learnt how the transition metal complexes can help in carbon dioxide and water reduction. Pincer complexes using Mn and Co were checked to perform the reduction reactions. Also, students came to know how the ligand plays an important role in tuning the efficiency and stability of complex and balance over potential. With the designing of new ligands, the geometry gets changed and hence, the potential also gets altered. Overall, the seminar was informative and beneficial for the students and understands basic concepts of coordination chemistry in a better way. They learnt kinetic and thermodynamic mechanism of chemical reactions. Seminar ended with vote of thanks by Dr. Seema R. Pathak, CBFS, AUH.

Total 50 students and 3 faculties participated in the seminar.
