NATIONAL WORKSHOP ON “YOGA FOR HEALTH AND MINDFULNESS” FUNDED BY INDIAN COUNCIL OF PHILOSOPHICAL RESEARCH {Ministry of Education, Government of India}

 The One-Week Workshop on “Yoga for Health and Mindfulness”, sponsored by Indian Council of Philosophical Research, by Ministry of Education, Government of India ,was conducted by Amity Business School, Amity University Madhya Pradesh from24th of August, 2022 to 31st of August 2022. 

This Yoga workshop is specifically designed for the faculties and research scholars to share with them the information regarding the benefits and results of yoga on human body by practicing it daily. The objective of the workshop is to learn the art of self-expression, finding the rhythm and your own path. Yoga helps us in creating self-awareness and self-realisation. It calms the mind and body, relaxes it and controls the breath together to create balance, harmony and stability within a person in this busy fast-moving world. Through this 7-day workshop we are trying to relieve the day-to-day stress one goes through and help our participants in healing their minds, detoxifying the body and purifying the souls. 
A total of 50 faculty members and research scholars from different departments of Amity University Madhya Pradesh have participated in this workshop. The workshop was conducted under the guidance of Lt. Gen.V. K. Sharma(AVSM, Retd.), (Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Amity University Madhya Pradesh) and Prof. (Dr) Anil Vashisht (Dy Pro Vice Chancellor, Director, Amity Business School & Dean Students Welfare, Amity University, Madhya Pradesh) and the Organizing Committee of the Yoga Workshop, Mr. Rajeev Kumar Dwivedi and Dr. Shweta Saxena, Assistant Professors in Amity Business School, Amity University Madhya Pradesh, were the Coordinators of the workshop. Both of them are faculties in  Amity Business School, Amity University Madhya Pradesh.
 
 
Inaugural
The workshop started on 24th August 2022 at 15:15 hours; the inaugural session was Chaired by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Amity University Madhya Pradesh, Lt. Gen. VK Sharma and Prof. (Dr.) Anil Vashisht, Deputy Pro Vice Chancellor, Amity University Madhya Pradesh. The anchor for the day, Ms Shirali Tiwari, student of BBA V Semester of Amity Business School, invited our Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. VK Sharma to inaugurate the Yoga Workshop by garlanding the Idol of Maa Saraswati and lightening of the lamp along with the Deputy Pro. Vice Chancellor, Amity University Madhya Pradesh, Prof (Dr) Anil Vashisht. All the Esteemed Guests, HOIs, HODs, faculty members, research scholars and the coordinators were welcomed by the anchor and a brief introduction for the 7-day National Yoga Workshop was given. The workshop was conducted in 2 sessions. Every day, in the first session, the lecture was taken by the speaker and in the second session, Yoga practice session was conducted.

Speaker for the day: Lt. Gen. VK Sharma 
Anchor for Day 1, Ms Shirali Tiwari, started the event by thanking the Indian Council of Philosophical Research (ICPR) for their support in conducting the workshop. Later on, she introduced herself and the resource person Lt. Gen. VK Sharma, AVSM, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Madhya Pradesh. Honourable Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen VK Sharma  has served the Indian Army for almost 40 years and retired from the second highest rank of Lt. Gen, a Three Star and a Flag rank of the army. He has also been an instructor at Institute of Armament Technology, Pune. He is the founder Vice Chancellor of Amity University Madhya Pradesh, Gwalior. 
The anchor, Shirali, then invited Honourable Vice Chancellor sir to address the session by sharing his words of wisdom and knowledge. 
Honourable Vice Chancellor Sir spoke about the importance of Yoga in our life and said that a healthy mind is in a healthy body. He said that Yoga helps in releasing stress and releases ‘Feel Good Hormones’; Dopamine and Serotonin. He emphasized about the various benefits of Yoga in our daily life. He said that Yoga gives a person good health and ultimate happiness in life. It is essential for physical and mental health. He said that Yoga lowers Bad Cholesterol and boosts Good Cholesterol levels in the body. Several breathing exercises in Yoga and Yoga Mudras keep a person healthy, happy and fit. Thus, Yoga plays a vital role in every person’s life and one must try to make Yoga a part of his/her daily life.
After the end of the session of Honourable Vice Chancellor, Amity University Madhya Pradesh, Lt. Gen. V K Sharma, Ms Bhoomika Singh, Sports Officer of Amity University Madhya Pradesh started the half an hour Yoga practice session. She made the participants to do several stretching exercises and warm up in the beginning followed by some breathing exercises and asanas like Bhujangasana, Vrikshasana, Surya Namaskara, etc.  She ended with Shavaasana. At the end, feedback was taken from the participants and refreshment was distributed to them. All the participants enjoyed the session.
Day 2
Topic: Yoga: Body, Mind and Soul Detox
Speaker for the day: Dr Vijay Moghe, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of the Department of Physical Education, Institute of Professional Studies, Gwalior.
 Anchor for Day 2, Ms Parikalpna Singh (student of BBA V Semester of Amity Business School), started the event by welcoming the guest speaker for the day, Dr. Vijay Moghe and his team of instructors, Ms Madhuri, Mr. Vinay and Mr. Sunny, the admired HOIs, HODs and all the participants. She showed the gratitude towards the Indian Council of Philosophical Research by thanking them for their support in conducting the workshop. Later on, she introduced herself and the resource person,Dr. Vijay Moghe. 
Dr. Vijay Moghe is a member of Sports Psychology Association of India, All India Association of Educational Research, Technical member of MP Softball Association, member of Doctoral Research Board of Mandsaur University, MP. He has been awarded with several medals in Senior National Softball Championships and Kho-Kho championship. He has a total of 15 years of teaching experience in various UG and PG programmes.
The anchor, Parikalpna, then invited Dr Moghe to address the participants for the session.
The session was a combined session of lecture and practicing the yoga asanas. Dr. Moghe described the benefits of various yogic asanas and his team of instructors demonstrated the postures and positions to the participants. The session was quite engaging and relaxing. It is well said that yoga is the light that once lit will never dim, the better your practice the better your flame. All the participants were contended with satisfaction of healings and rejuvenation of their minds and body. 
The session was closed with the vote of thanks by Dr. Shweta Saxena, one of the coordinators of the workshop and distribution of refreshments among the participants and the guests.
DAY 3
 
Topic: Yoga and Mindfulness: To be in the Present Moment
Speaker for the day: Dr. Nibu R Krishnan, Associate Professor and HOD, Yogic Sciences, LNIPE, Gwalior
 Mr. Rajiv Dwivedi and Dr. Shweta Saxena, coordinators of the workshop and faculties of Amity Business School, Amity University Madhya Pradeshwelcomed the participants of the workshop. At the very outset, Ms Sheryl R. Baijoo, the anchor for Day -3(Friday), began by thanking the Indian Council of Philosophical Research for giving funding for the workshop. Then she introduced herself and the resource person, Dr. Nibu R. Krishnan, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Yogic Sciences, LNIPE, Gwalior.Dr Nibu Krishnan has completed Diploma in Yoga Education (DYEd) in 2004 from Kaivalyadhama in Lonavala. In 2009, he was awarded Doctor of Philosophy in Physical Education (Ph.D.) from LNIPE, Gwalior. In 2010, he also completed an International Coaching Course Diploma in General Conditioning at Semmelweis University in Budapest, Hungary.
The objective of this Yoga session, was explained by the Anchor, i.e. to develop the skill of self-expression, as well as to find one's own rhythm and way to mindfulness. She then invited our distinguished guest, Dr Nibu Krishnan, to address the audience. He explained the participants about what is mindfulness. He made them to learn how to be in the present moment and how to live in the present without making any judgements about anybody/ anything.  He made the audience to clean their thoughts and helped them in attaining the state of thoughtlessness. He explained to them that the way to attain the state of mindfulness is through meditation and Yoga. Yoga helps in releasing stress and achieving mindfulness. He also made the audience practice facial Yoga exercises while explaining to them its importance.
As per the schedule of the workshop, after the session of Dr Nibu Krishnan was over, a half an hour Yoga practice session was conducted by Ms. Bhoomika Singh, Sports officer of Amity University Madhya Pradesh. She made the attendees practice certain Yoga Asanas and mudras which were very relaxing and rejuvenating for the participants of the workshop. Both the sessions were very interesting and refreshing. The overall feedback of the participants was good and satisfactory. Dr. Nibu R. Krishnan educated us that Yoga is a lot more than physical wellness. It is also about mental and spiritual health. The human personality is more than just a body; it is also a mind, intellect, and soul. Yoga aims to bring them all together. By practicing Yoga, one develops a healthy physique, a sharp brain, and a focused mind.
DAY 4
Topic: Meditation: For better concentration.
Resource person: Dr. Yatendra Singh, Associate Professor, LNIPE, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.
The guest was welcomed by Mr. Rajiv Dwivedi and Dr. Shweta Saxena (Faculties of Amity Business School Amity University Madhya Pradesh.). Prof. Dr Yatendra Singh holds a Doctorate in Physical Education from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. Sir holds a doctorate in Physical Education from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi.  Dr Yatendra has made significant contributions towards research and has successfully authored 4 books and published more than 28 research papers and articles in various National and International journals. He has successfully conducted more than 150 sessions as a resource person at various National and International levels. 
Sir has successfully guided more than 55 PhD and MPhil scholars. Dr Yatendra Singh represented Banaras Hindu University 6 consecutive times in Inter University Hockey Tournaments from 2000 to 2006, he was nominated as the Captain of University Hockey Team for the session 2004 and 5 and likewise represented Banaras Hindu university in All India inter university competitions and recently he held the charge of the selector and manager of combined Indian universities hockey team for men for the session 2018 to 2019 and 19 to 20 and organised more than 30 conferences, workshops, inter-university tournaments and military training camp. Anchor then explained the objective for conducting this Yoga workshop i.e. to learn the art of self-expression, finding one’s rhythm and their own path. She then welcomed our honourable guest to address the gathering. 
His teachings: he talked about the difference types of Yoga and various hand mudras in yoga. He took a session on deep meditation.He took a session on deep meditation, introducing new techniques of relaxing the mind and body. In the yogic context, meditation, or dhyana, is defined more specifically as a state of pure consciousness. He explained about the importance of breathing properly and demonstrated it and made all the participants to practice meditation under his guidance and supervision.  All the participants enjoyed the session. The participants felt relaxed and relieved. After that the participants were given refreshments and asked for their feedbacks. Dr Yatendra discussed about the following benefits of meditation: -

He then explained the process of meditation. He said that for doing meditation, we have to do the following steps.
DAY 5
Topic: Yoga for Stress Management
Resource Person: Mr. Rajiv Kumar Dwivedi, Assistant Professor, Amity Business School, Amity University Madhya Pradesh
Content: Anchor for Day 5, Ms Kirti Diseja, student of B Com (H), V semester, Amity Business School, started the event by thanking Indian Council of Philosophical Research for their support in conducting the workshop. Later on, she introduced herself and the resource person, Mr. Rajiv Kumar Dwivedi, Assistant Professor at Amity Business School, Amity University, Madhya Pradesh.
Mr Rajiv Dwivedi is a well-known behavioural trainer. He has more than 25 years of experience of Industry, Corporate Trainings and Academics. For the last 9 years, he is working as an Asst Professor with Amity University, Gwalior teaching OB, HR, Leadership & Strategy.
He has conducted more than 500 Training workshops.
He talked about the different types of Yoga and their role in managing and handling stress. He also made the participants do small and stress relieving exercises and then made them listen to a stress relieving tune. He played a few stress buster games with the participants. He also explained how badly stress affects our body.
After the end of the session by Mr. Dwivedi, the Sports Officer, Ms Bhoomika Singh, started the half an hour Yoga Practice session. In the session, she made the participants do yoga and Anulom - Vilom, Bhraamari, Bhujangaasan,etc. In the end, she made everyone to do Shavaasana. All the participants enjoyed her session. The participants felt relaxed and relieved after the yoga session.
DAY 6
Topic: Nutritional Strategies for Fitness and Wellness
Anchor for Day 6, Mr. Saksham Saxena, started the event by thanking Indian Council of Philosophical Research for their support in conducting the workshop. Later on, he introduced himself and the resource person Dr. Narendra Yadav, Assistant Professor, Department of Health Sciences at Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education, Gwalior. Dr Narendra is a PhD holder in Physical Education from Kurukshetra University. His Areas of Specialization include:
1.     Sports Nutrition
2.     Fitness and Wellness
3.     Kinesiology
4.     Health Education
5.     Exercise Physiology
Sir has attended several Workshops in the field of Physical Education in a Number of National and International Webinars and has delivered a number of lectures in different Universities and Colleges on Sports Nutrition and Wellness.
After the end of the session of Dr Narendra Yadav, the Sports Officer of Amity University Madhya Pradesh, Ms Bhoomika Singh started the session of Yoga Practice. In the session she made the participants to do yoga and facial exercise. All the participants enjoyed her session. The participants felt relaxed and relieved after the yoga session. At the end of the session, feedback was taken from the participants and refreshment was distributed amongst them.
DAY 7
Topic: Yoga for discovering inner reservoirs of energy and peace in daily life.
Content: Anchor for Day 7, Ms Kirti Diseja, started the event by thanking Indian Council of Philosophical Research for their support in conducting the workshop. Later on, she introduced herself and the resource person Lt. Gen. VK Sharma, AVSM, Honourable Vice Chancellor, Amity University, Madhya Pradesh.

He talked about the different types of Yoga and their role in managing lifestyle. He also asked about the viewpoint of the participants on the true meaning of energy and peace. He also talked about the role of yoga in discovering inner energy and peace. He talked about maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
After addressing the gathering by sir, our sports officer Ms Bhoomika started the session. In the session she made the participants do various types of yoga exercises. All the participants enjoyed her session. The participants felt relaxed and relieved after the yoga session.
Then the participants were given refreshments.
