The 77th Republic Day of the country was celebrated at the vibrant campus of Amity University Madhya Pradesh with enthusiasm and patriotic fervour on 26th January 2026 .
The celebrations commenced with unfurling of the Tri-Colour by Lt. Gen. V.K. Sharma, AVSM (Retd), Hon’ble Pro Chancellor AUMP and Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof Dr RS Tomar which filled all the students, faculty, and staff of AUMP with immense pride. The rendition of National Anthem after flag hoisting filled the entire campus of AUMP with the spirit of patriotism. The NCC cadets of Amity University Madhya Pradesh marched past ceremonially in a perfectly synchronized rhythm displaying confidence, determination, and fortitude. Soon after this, The National Song, Vande Matram was sung conjointly to mark 150 years of its inception and acknowledge it’s contribution to invoke Nationalism.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr R.S. Tomar, extended warm greetings to all present and began with exuberant emphasis upon the importance of Vande Mataram, the National Song that was composed 150 years ago yet carries its nostalgic impact till date while having guided and enlightened ‘Indian Independence Movement’. He exclaimed with pride that India has carved an irreplaceable strong hold at the global scenario be it the democratic or economic front. It is required of all the citizens of India to make the country, Self Reliant. The speech was concluded with revoking the values of Mahatma Gandhi and Subhash Chandra Bose.
Lt. Gen. V.K. Sharma, AVSM (Retd), Hon’ble Pro Chancellor, AUMP greeted the students, faculty, and staff of the University on this historic occasion and addressed them while extending heartfelt wishes to acknowledge greatness of Republic Day. He expressed his concern at the changing world order, continuity of wars at international front and raising power of economically powerful nations exploiting weaker ones. India needs to become ‘Atmanirbhar’ or Self Reliant only then the development ‘Goals of 2047’ can be attained, be it at the military or economic front. He highlighted upon the fundamental duties inscribed in the constitution. He said that freedom was earned through immense sacrifice, valour, and determination, and it is the duty of every citizen to honour the sacrifice by contributing meaningfully to society by evolving the national character which is the need of the hour to check corruption and destruction of nation’s property. India is a secular country and every religion should be respected for India to march ahead.
He opined that we all should strive hard to fulfil our Hon’ble Founder President’s vision of nation building through education. He expressed his gratitude to Hon’ble Founder President and Hon’ble Chairman for the vision and exemplary leadership and guidance at every step.
He further stated that India is a live example of unity in diversity. The students of Amity University Gwalior should contribute towards nation building by following their kartavya and obeying the law of the nation. The Hon’ble Pro Chancellor also motivated the faculty of Amity University Gwalior by saying that “Let’s pledge to work towards a brighter and more prosperous future by empowering youth through education.”
Sharing his visionary thoughts and words of wisdom, Dr. Aseem Chauhan, Hon’ble Chancellor and Chairman, Amity University Madhya Pradesh said that it’s a pleasure to see the students of Amity University, Gwalior celebrating the 77th Republic Day with such zeal and enthusiasm. He pointed out the crucial role that India has to play in the coming years and how students of Amity can lead the nation towards self reliance and development. True success is that which positively impacts the world, he said. Dr Chauhan appreciated the efforts of leadership, faculty and students for the remarkable progress that the University has been making.
A cultural programme enshrined the built up of patriotism through the celebrations of this auspicious day. The entire atmosphere resounded with love for the country as a self-composed poem was recited by Saksham Sharma and Anushka Ahuja followed by a patriotic song sung by Ananya Shakya which ensured that Indian identity shall be retained by the youth in all circumstances. A dazzling dance performance by Aditi Bhadouria enthralled the audience and was applauded by the students, staff, and faculty. Interesting games were conducted by the Sports Officer, Mr. Malkhan Singh for the staff, who maintain and upkeep the sprawling Infrastructure of Amity University, after the address of Dr. Aseem Chauhan, Hon’ble Chancellor and Chairman, Amity University, Madhya Pradesh.
The occasion was graced by the presence of Hon’ble Pro Chancellor, Pro VC, Pro-VC (Research), Registrar, Dean Student Welfare, Deans, Directors, HoIs, HoDs, faculty, staff members, and the students of AUMP.
The 77th Republic Day Celebrations rekindled the flame of patriotism in the heart of every Amitian. The faculty, staff, and students of AUMP took pride in clicking photographs with the dignitaries on this momentous occasion. Keeping up with the tradition, sweets were distributed to all the Amitians.
