 Amity University Madhya Pradesh celebrated International Women's Day on 6 March 2026 at the Auditorium, Block-B, AUMP,on the theme “Forgotten Heroes: Women Who Fought for Our Freedom.” The event aimed to recognize the contributions of women in the Indian freedom struggle while promoting awareness, respect, and gender equality among students and faculty.

Chief Guest of the Event: Air Commodore Shakti Sharma

The programme commenced at 2:30 PM with the welcome of dignitaries, followed by a Ganesh Vandana that set a respectful tone for the event. The introduction of the programme briefly highlighted the importance of celebrating women’s achievements and remembering the sacrifices of lesser-known women freedom fighters.

The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor delivered the Opening Remarks while  emphasizing the importance of women’s empowerment, gender justice, and the role of educational institutions in nurturing inclusive values. This was followed by Words of Wisdom from the Hon’ble Pro-Chancellor, who reflected on the historical and contemporary contributions of women in nation-building and encouraged students to learn from their resilience and leadership.

The  address of the Guest ,Air Commodore Shakti Sharma, further enriched the programme as she spoke of the forgotten contributions of women freedom fighters. She stressed on the need to bring such stories into mainstream academic and public discourse. The speaker encouraged students to engage with history critically and recognize the role of women in shaping India’s independence movement.

A student skit depicting the struggles and bravery of women freedom fighters formed the cultural highlight of the event. The performance effectively conveyed the sacrifices and courage of women who played crucial roles in the freedom struggle but often remain underrepresented in historical narratives.

An Open Mic session provided students with an opportunity to share their views, poems, and reflections on women’s empowerment and gender equality. This interactive segment encouraged student participation and created a platform for expression and dialogue.

The programme also included a short video presentation on Women’s Day, showcasing inspiring stories of women leaders and highlighting the global significance of gender equality movements. The event concluded with the National Anthem, marking the successful completion of the celebration.
