Aim & Objective of the Programme:
The National Conference was organized with the following objectives:
1. To encourage the participants to understand why the British-era criminal laws have long been criticized for their colonial origins, reflecting an imposition of foreign legal systems on India.
2. To explore why has the Decolonization initiative taken place by replacing these laws with indigenous Bharatiya laws and how it signifies a crucial step towards decolonization.
3. Understanding the purpose of adopting Bharatiya laws in empowering India to establish its legal framework based on its cultural, social, and political realities, rather than adhering to laws imposed by a former colonial power.
4. To throw light and discuss its cultural relevance by elaborating on how Bhartiya Laws can better reflect the values, traditions, and customs of Indian society, ensuring that the legal system aligns with the cultural ethos of the nation.
5. To manifest how Bhartiya Laws would be more helpful in addressing injustice in a better way as many argue that the British-era laws are outdated and fail to address contemporary social and legal issues effectively.
6. To understand the reform agenda by discussing how the replacement of colonial laws presents an opportunity to usher in comprehensive legal reforms, addressing shortcomings and inconsistencies in the existing legal framework.
